WHAT A SUMMER! (and yes know it isn't over yet)
But as our summer activities come to an end, we just want to say a huge THANK YOU to every child, parent, carer and family who has walked through our doors over the past few weeks.
When we started planning for the summer, we could never have imagined quite what God would do.
We've welcomed new families, made new friends, laughed (a LOT!), eaten together, played together, created together and embraced plenty of noise and chaos along the way!
One of the things that has meant the most to us has been hearing families say:
"This isn't what I thought church was like."
Because church doesn't have to be somewhere children are expected to sit silently.
Church can be noisy.
Church can be chaotic.
Church can be full of laughter.
Church can be somewhere children run around, have fun and know that they belong.
And that's exactly the kind of church we want to be.
We know that we may not see every family who has joined us this summer at church on a Sunday, and that's okay.
Because this summer hasn't been about filling seats.
It's been about building relationships.
It's been about our community knowing that there is a place here where you are welcome, where your children are valued, where you can come exactly as you are, and where there will always be a space for you.
AND A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO TEAM NUNHEAD!
We also want to say an enormous thank you to our amazing staff and volunteer teams in The Village Charity Shop & Café - Nunhead, Salvation Army
Every single activity we've run this summer has been supported by people who have stepped in, helped out and simply got stuck in, even when what we've been doing has been well outside their specific job description!
Whether it's been helping with food and drinks, setting things up, clearing things away, welcoming families, answering questions, finding something we've suddenly realised we need, or simply being there and saying, "How can I help?", you've played a part in making all of this possible.
And we don't take that for granted.
We are incredibly grateful that you are part of Team Nunhead, and incredibly grateful for the part you play not just in our summer activities, but in everything we do for our community.
It takes a whole team to make a place feel like it belongs to everyone, and we're very lucky to have ours.
To every family who trusted us with a little bit of your summer, and to every member of our staff and volunteer team who helped make it happen:
THANK YOU.
We have absolutely loved this summer.
And this isn't the end.
It's just the beginning.
