If you wish to contact us, please do so via our website www.mwht.org.uk which can be found on the 'Info' page The Muslim Welfare House, founded in 1970, was originally established to assist Muslim students coming to the UK for an education. However, over the years, the focus of the charity has changed, as has its user community. The multi-purpose building acts as more than just a mosque, but as a

entire community centre, emulating the function of the masjid built by the beloved Prophet, may peace and blessings be upon him. It acts as a social, cultural, learning and advice centre for more than 15 nationalities, ranging from Algerians and Somalis, to Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. The MWH site consists of offices, two training centres, a youth centre, Library and prayer rooms for both men and women, all fitted with easily accessible toilets, and designed for wheelchair user accessibility. MWH was one of the first charity bodies established in the UK with the purpose of serving the minority ethnic community. In particular, our wider commitment of encouraging the minority ethnic community to participate and integrate in society underpins the provision of all our services. MWHrecognise, in particular, the necessity of linking with mainstream providers and the mutual benefits that arise – including greater understanding, appreciation and provision. Thus we have prioritised the development of our working relationship with local authoritative bodies – the police, the council, educational authorities as well as colleges and schools. MWH is an active member of many consultative working groups which meet regularly – including the Race Equality Group of the local council.
