What a wonderful morning of creativity, conversation, and community at Art for Wellbeing today.
As we painted and created together, we reflected on the beauty and wisdom found in birds and trees throughout Scripture.
In Psalm 1, the righteous person is described as "like a tree planted by streams of water"—deeply rooted, nourished, and flourishing in every season. We also thought about Jesus' parable of the mustard seed, which grows into a tree where "the birds come and perch in its branches" (Matthew 13:31–32), reminding us that God's kingdom often begins in small ways but grows to become a place of welcome and shelter for many.
And we reflected on Jesus' words: "Look at the birds of the air" (Matthew 6:26). The birds neither sow nor reap, yet they are cared for by their heavenly Father. Their freedom and trust encourage us to place our confidence in God's loving provision.
Alongside our painting, Rosemary led us in a wonderful creative activity, transforming discarded wood offcuts into beautiful plaques for bedrooms, gardens, and doors. It was inspiring to see something that might have been thrown away given new purpose and beauty through creativity and care.
As brushes moved across the wood and hands crafted new creations, we were reminded that growth often happens quietly. Like trees putting down roots and mustard seeds becoming places of refuge, God is continually at work in our lives, shaping something beautiful.
Thank you to everyone who came along, shared their creativity, and contributed to such a warm and welcoming afternoon. We loved seeing all your artwork and spending time together.
