Sunflower season at St. Mildred’s Community Garden! 🌻

Last year we proudly announced that our preschool, Millies Preschool, and our Community Gardeners had (we thought) grown the tallest sunflower in Addiscombe — at an amazing 9ft 10inches!

This year, our sunflowers haven’t quite reached those dizzy heights — perhaps the very high temperatures and lack of water have had something to do with it! But my goodness… what they lack in height, they certainly make up for in flowers!

We have 22 individual flowers on just one stem. Is that a record for Addiscombe?! If anyone has grown more sun flowers on a single stem, send us a picture, we'd love to see it.

And there’s a reason to come and enjoy our gardens …

🌳🐻 “If you go down to the woods today, beware of a big surprise!” 🐻🌳

Oh, what fun we had at our Sing, Sow & Grow Teddy Bears’ Picnic!

With the help of Maree from Musical Bumps Croydon, we listened to a lovely story about a bear’s bedtime, then sang, danced and even gave our teddies a ride on our HUGE parachute – which they absolutely loved!

Then it was off on a bear hunt around St. Mildred’s Community Garden! 🐻 Along the way, our mini gardeners helped water the plants, picked some lovely tomatoes and collected seeds to plant in biodegradable pots.

After all that fun, we were definitely hot, thirsty and hungry, so our wonderful St. Mildred’s Community Gardeners treated everyone to a Teddy Bears’ Picnic, complete with teddy-themed snacks and plenty of fruit.

What a fantastic morning – lots of singing, dancing, gardening, exploring, eating and, most importantly, LOTS OF FUN!

Join us for our next Sing, Sow & Grow session:
