Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that by Saint Joseph’s intercession
your Church may constantly watch over
the unfolding of the mysteries of human salvation,
whose beginnings you entrusted to his faithful care.

O God, who chose the Bishop Saint Patrick
to preach your glory to the peoples of Ireland,
grant, through his merits and intercession,
that those who glory in the name of Christian
may never cease to proclaim your wondrous deeds to all.

Laetare! Rejoice! Happy 4th Sunday of Lent, and in many areas of the world, including the UK, Happy Mothering Sunday!

We have now passed the halfway point in Lent and so the church takes this opportunity to look forward with anticipation to the coming of the greatest solemnity of all, Easter, the Sunday of the Resurrection.

We mix the Purple of Lent with the White of the coming Easter season to give us the Rose we see at Mass today, and for similar reasons, on Gaudete Sunday in Advent.

Happy Mothers’ Day to all our serving and supporting mothers! Our Lady, Mother of the church, Mother of Servers, Pray for us.

Our thanks as always to our goods team for their efforts. The next packing session for orders now being received will be after Easter.
A reminder that all orders must be now placed online via our website, the PO Box is now closed and any mail sent to it will be returned to sender.

"Water of life, cleanse and refresh us; Raise us to life in Christ Jesus"

The Third Sunday of Lent this year gives us the story of the Women at the Well and in the first reading, Moses looking for water for his followers and God providing, very much water on the mind then today. Just as Jesus himself evangelises the Samaritan women in the Gospel today, offering her the water that will become "a spring of water welling up to eternal life", we look forward to the coming Easter where we will have record numbers for recent years of new faithful, reborn in the waters of baptism.

Fr Keith Stoakes, the National Director of the Guild of St Stephen has a long history of supporting the deaf community in the Westminster Archdiocese. He provides a Mass to the deaf community each month in British Sign Language (BSL), as do many other dioceses around England and Wales, and around the world. We recently commissioned the Caritas Deaf Service to record the Guild Prayer in British Sign Language. Please share it with anyone who may benefit.

We continue our journey through Lent on this 2nd Sunday, and as always the Gospel gives us today the Transfiguration. His closest disciples Peter, James and John witness on the holy mountain the awesome moments not just of Jesus speaking with the characters of the Old Testament but God Himself speaking to them. These same closest friends set now to accompany him in the Passion, to the Garden in Gethsemane.

It’s the first Sunday of Lent, the Gloria has fallen silent once again, our Lenten journey is underway. Falling this year on a Sunday the usual feast of the Chair of St Peter has been displaced, sign of unity between Peter and his successor Pope Leo, we pray for his ministry.

“Grant, almighty God,
through the yearly observances of holy Lent,
that we may grow in understanding
of the riches hidden in Christ
and by worthy conduct pursue their effects.”
