St Michael and All Angels Church Stonebridge

St Michael and All Angels Church Stonebridge St Michael and All Angels is the Church of England Parish Church for the Stonebridge area in London NW10. Everyone is welcome to come and meet up with us.

Our mission is to love God above all else and our neighbour as ourselves. Our aim is to be a beacon of light and hope on the hill. Our church building is easy to find: it's on the corner of the crossroads between Hillside, Brentfield Road, Craven Park and Knatchbull Road and is a large red brick Victorian church with a small churchyard garden area. Currently we hold one service in the Old Church (

the large church hall building) every Sunday morning at 10:00am. This is the weekly Parish Eucharist, where we come together to worship, pray, read the Bible and to receive the bread and wine in the sacrament of communion as Jesus taught us. At 11:30am we hold Church on the Phone, a teleconference Service of the Word of about 45 minutes where we pray together. This is intended for anyone who cannot come to our buildings, so if you are interested please call our office number and we will let you know the dial-in code. As part of the Church of England in the Anglican tradition we aim to be a church accessible to all who live in the parish. Our worship is both sacramental and Bible-based.

On the Fourth Sunday of Easter, 11th May, we hear more about Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd who looks after his flock.
We have a stained glass window showing Jesus as the Good Shepherd, in our south aisle:

On the Second Sunday of Easter, 27th April, we remember Jesus’ appearances to his disciples in the Upper Room in Jerusalem, reading from the Gospel of John Chapter 20.

Below we see Caravaggio’s interpretation of St Thomas meeting the risen Jesus, “The Incredulity of Saint Thomas.”

Tomorrow will be the First Sunday of Christmas and we shall be meeting in church at 10:00 am and on the phone at 1:30 pm. Our Gospel reading is Luke 2: 41-52, the incident when Jesus and his family went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. On the way back, Joseph and Mary realised they had lost him.

If you happened to go to Birmingham Art Gallery to see this painting by Holman Hunt, you'd know where they found him!

We hope and pray you enjoy your Christmas season and have a Happy New Year in a few days' time.

Christmas at St Michael and All AngelsWe wish you all a peaceful, happy and blessed Christmas season.

Today is the Fourth Sunday after Trinity. Our Bible readings for the service today are Job 38:1-13, Psalm 107: 1-3, 23-32, 2 Corinthians 6:1-13, and Mark 4:35-41.

This week’s image is one of Jesus asleep in the boat during a storm, to the consternation of his fishing friends. Find out how he calmed the waters in our Gospel reading today.

Every Sunday we hold our Parish Eucharist at 10:00 in the church. The service lasts just over an hour, with hymn singing, prayer and preaching the Gospel. We always share Holy Communion together as Jesus taught us. (And there is plenty of space for more people!)

(The image is a detail from Delacroix's painting, now in the Metropolitan Museum of New York.)

It’s now Eastertide, the season of forty days between the celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday, and the Ascension. This Sunday 14th April is the Third Sunday of Easter.

Jesus as Good Shepherd in one of our stained glass windows.
During this season, we read each week from the Acts of the Apostles, reminding ourselves of events in the very early church after Jesus’ Ascension to Heaven. Our Gospel readings centre on Jesus’ appearances after the resurrection as more disciples meet and recognise the risen Lord. Today’s readings are Acts 4:5-12; Psalm 23; 1 John 3:16-24; and John 10:11-18.

At St Michael & All Angels Stonebridge, we are living to make a difference by being a Christian heart at the centre of the community. Everyone is welcome.
On Sundays we worship together at a Parish Eucharist at 10am in the church, and at 1:30pm there is a teleconference Service of the Word, “Church on the Phone” for those who dial in remotely.
We are so glad that many people, “new” and “old”, joined us to celebrate Holy Week and Easter Sunday 2024!
