Prayers of Intersession:
Lord, we come before you now, and we thank you that you are a god of love, a god of hope, a god who listens, and a god who answers when we call out and when we cry.
Lord, as we meet here today we think of those in our church family who are unable to be with us, because they are poorly or looking after someone who's poorly, or have other situations preventing them from being with us today. Lord can we ask that you draw close to them, that they will feel your presence, and your comfort, and that you will give them peace in their situations.
Lord we bring to you our community, the professionals who all work so hard to make this community happen. Doctors, nurses, teachers, the ambulance service, fire service, the police, social services and so many other organisations. Lord, each day they go to work not knowing what they will face yet still have the heart to serve. May you protect them and bless them.
And Lord for the volunteers, who give their time to serve within our community and church each week making a difference in so many people's lives. We thank you for them Lord and we pray that they will know how crucial they are in supporting so many lives broken and longing for you.
Lord we bring to you our government, our politicians, our counselors, and all others in authority. Lord may you grant them wisdom in their decision making and compassion in their actions, may you dwell in the places that they meet to discuss matters and soften their hearts to serve with humility and Grace.
And finally Lord, we bring to you all those countries who are in conflict and war. For families who are grieving for loved ones lost in the fighting, for those who are missing, who are being held hostage and imprisoned. God, who we call the 'Great I Am', may YOU, now be the invasion of these countries may you interrupt and intervene in the situations that are causing great pain, death and suffering, may you affect the consciences of those authorizing such atrocities, may your kingdom come and you will be done on this earth.
In the blessed name of Jesus our lord. Armen.
