May's Evensong & Curry at St Benet’s is set to be something special, not only do we have some exquisite music, but it is our Feast of Dedication; celebrating 114 years since the consecration of our church in 1912.

This month's music at Evensong includes:

✨Stanford in C, one of his most breathtaking evening canticles
✨ Harris’s Behold, the Tabernacle of God
✨ Nicholson’s O Salutaris & Tantum Ergo at Benediction

At St Benet’s we hold close the saying often attributed to St Augustine: “To sing is to pray twice.” We believe that music lifts our prayers in a profound way. Whether you want a quiet moment of reflection or to join fully in prayer, you belong and are most welcome here.

And after the final Amen…
🍛 Homemade curries
🍷 Good conversation and drinks
🎵 A chance to meet our musicians

We hope you’ll join us on Sunday 10 May at 5pm.

Today at the Liturgy for Good Friday, we were drawn into the stillness of the Cross. In his homily, Fr James spoke of the motto of the Carthusian Monastic Order 'Stat crux dum volvitur orbis’, the Cross stands still while the world turns. This motto invites us to see the Cross and Good Friday not as a relic of suffering, but as the fixed point around which our lives can find direction. While everything else around us in the world shifts and changes, Christ remains.

May this Good Friday draw us closer to the Cross that never moves, even when the world does.
