Happy Vaisakhi — the birth of the Khalsa.
It was the moment when five men stood up, ready to give their heads, demonstrating their faith and devotion to their Guru.
The first was Bhai Daya Singh, signifying that the foundation of Dharma (religion) begins with Daya (compassion).
The second was Bhai Dharam Singh, reinforcing the idea that where there is Daya, there is Dharma.
The third was Bhai Himmat Singh, teaching us that where Daya and Dharma are present, Himmat (courage and bravery) naturally follows.
The fourth was Bhai Mohkam Singh, symbolizing that when Daya, Dharma, and Himmat come together, they become Mohkam (a Farsi word meaning strong and resolute).
The fifth was Bhai Sahib Singh, whose name and inclusion represent that where there is Daya, Dharma, Himmat, and Mohkam, there is Sahib (the Master — Vaheguru).
Guru Gobind Singh Ji themselves were the first to receive Amrit from the Panj Pyare, showing us the path. It should be the aim of every Sikh to do Ardas and seek guidance from Guru Sahib, asking to be blessed with Amrit.
We were given a unique identity so that we may stand out. We were given the status of kings and queens — sovereign people — and we should strive each day to make being a Sikh a way of life.
Have faith. Have trust in the Virtuous One, Vaheguru (the Wondrous God). Believe.
Naasro Mansoor Guru Gobind Singh
Eizde Mansoor Guru Gobind Singh
(God has blessed Guru Gobind Singh Ji with a special mission to help the poor and the oppressed.)
