Prayers for our long term friend Helen as she prepares to travel to Belfast for ACC. Great to know there will be Igreja Anglicana de Moçambique e Angola - IAMA delegates there too. Go well!

The Revd Helen Van Koevering, Chair of the International Anglican Women’s Network, is preparing to attend ACC-19.

Helen describes her own story as one shaped by many parts of the Anglican Communion: ‘I was born and raised in England, confirmed in Durham, married in Mozambique, a missionary in Zimbabwe, ordained a priest in Wales, served for 25 years the church in northern Mozambique, and, now, the Episcopal Church for 10 years.’

Looking ahead to ACC-19, Helen said: ‘I am excited to sit with our global church at a momentous time of discerning God’s mission with us going forward! It feels like being invited to the kitchen not just the table.’

Her prayer is: ‘Lord and Father of all, You are our guide and satisfy our needs and hopes; may our conversations bring renewed relationships, inspire us into Your mission with all at the edges of the diverse communities of our beloved Communion, and encourage the rebuilding, restoration and reconciliation of all that is broken, hurting and divided. And all so that we may bring glory to You. Amen.’

Let's pray for ACC and especially the Igreja Anglicana de Moçambique e Angola - IAMA delegates

ACC-19 is the 19th in-person meeting of the Anglican Consultative Council. An international gathering, it invites representatives from every Member Church of the Anglican Communion around the world.

At ACC-19, members will hear updates from across the Communion, take part in conversations on mission and advocacy, and hear more from Anglican Commissions and Networks, and their areas of ministry.

What special news and inspiring words:
‘Churches cannot be mere observers of the climate crisis; we must be bridges for dialogue and agents of change.’

Today is World Environment Day. We give thanks for the appointment of the Most Revd Marinez Rosa dos Santos Bassotto, Primate of Brazil and Bishop of the Amazon, as Chair of the Anglican Communion Environmental Network (ACEN).

Archbishop Marinez, who is well known for her advocacy for the natural world and for Indigenous peoples and traditional communities in the Amazon, will attend ACC-19 as both Primate of Igreja Episcopal Anglicana do Brasil and Chair of ACEN.

Reflecting on her appointment, Archbishop Marinez said:

‘Churches cannot be mere observers of the climate crisis; we must be bridges for dialogue and agents of change.’
