Sermon Highlights
Just as it is important for every soldier to know and understand the weapons at their disposal, so should Christians understand the gifts God has given the body of Christ.
The gifts of the Spirit as outlined in I Corinthians 12 can be categorized into 3 categories: Revelational, Power and Vocal gifts
Revelational Gifts (To Know)
This is given to help reveal things we can't know through our natural senses. They are:
1. Word of wisdom: display of extraordinary ability in decision making, for example, King Solomon
2. Word of knowledge: supernatural revelation of facts. Example, Jesus and the Samaritan woman
3. Discerning of spirits: ability to see into the Spirit realm and identify the source of a spirit. For example, when Jesus said to Peter "Get thee behind me Satan"
Power Gifts (To do)
1. Gift of faith: it is a sudden supernatural surge of unquestionable belief that God will do something that seems impossible
2. Gifts of healings: supernatural restoration of health without medical intervention, destroying sicknesses and diseases
3. Working of miracles: interaction of the supernatural with the natural
Vocal Gifts (To Declare)
1. Gift of Prophecy: speaking the mind of God to edify, exhort and comfort the body of Christ
2. Gift of diverse tongues: ability to speak a language one never learnt
3. Gift of interpretation of tongues: ability to translate the message given while speaking in tongues so that the church is edified
Which of these gifts do you desire? Remember, God (the Holy Spirit) is the giver of these gifts and He distributes them as He wills.
We pray that God will bless us with more of His gifts for the edification of the Church and advancement of His Kingdom on earth.
Join us for another power packed service this Sunday by 9:00 am at the Ringway Community Centre. SE12 0DS.
