Finchley Progressive Synagogue We are a diverse, inclusive community welcoming religious/non religious, all ages & backgrounds.

Our members are a diverse group, with a huge range of professions and interests. Many live within a five mile radius of the synagogue, but we do have members from much further afield who could not imagine being a member anywhere else. Shabbat Services and times:
Friday Nights - 6:30pm
Saturday Morning - 11am

2nd Friday of the month - family service
3rd Friday of the month - Shabbat Resouled

Shabbat Resouled – The Service: is a Musical Friday Night Service held at Finchley Progressive Synagogue. with a band of 15 musicians, including: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, keyboard, flute, clarinet, percussion and drums, mandolin, banjo, harmonica and the occasional trombone. Shabbat Resouled has already visited Zurich, Adelaide, Birmingham, Woodford Liberal Synagogue, Manchester Limmud and Limmud Winter Conference and the music is used in some communities in the USA.

1st Saturday of the month - Play & Learn and Youth Service (children aged 0-10)

Not long until Shabbat and although it will be dark at 6.30 - don't forget it's clocks back on Saturday night so it'll be even darker next weekend. Hybrid services as usual this week, with Michael Lassman and Sarah Wendy Burman leading Kabbalat Shabbat tonight and Rabbi Rebecca will lead tomorrow with music from Sarah Wendy and Maya Rosenwasser. With the holidays in Tishrei now over, we have entered the month of Cheshvan, also called Mar Cheshvan. The name “Mar” is commonly associated with “bitter,” though it is also linked in some explanations with rain and, in Israel, the prayers for rain begin this month. For us at FPS, this first Shabbat in Cheshvan will be quite sad as we will mark the passing this week of our dearly beloved member, Monty Bixer at the wonderful age of 100. Do join us tonight at 6.30 pm and tomorrow at 11.00 am. Shabbat Shalom.
