Are we prepared to give our lives as a living sacrifice to God, Romans 12:1? This means:
1. Surrendering our plans, desires, or comfort to God?
2. Living in obedience to Him even when it is difficult?
3. Dedicating our whole life to God, not just part of it?
David said “…I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
2 Samuel 24:24 (NIV). It must ALWAYS significantly cost us if we are truly serious about serving God.
The cost could be:
Rejection - Isaiah 53:3
Accusation - Matthew 26:59-60
Unfair trial - John 18:19-24
Malignment - Psalm 109:25
Betrayal - Luke 22:47-48
Reputation loss - Philippians 2:7
Offended against - Matthew 24:10
Lies - Mark 14:56
Praise & Reject - Luke 19:38&23:21
Friendship loss - Psalm 41:9
Jealousy - Mark 15:10
If you’ve had to pay some or any of the cost from this list (not exhaustive) and not given up on God, then you have truly taken up your cross to follow Him, Luke 9:23.
Yes it’s painful but rejoice and be glad, because the light affliction you’re going through is working for you a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 2 Corinthians 4:17. This is drawing you closer to God and defeating the powers of darkness.
The disciples scattered and left Jesus alone in the garden of Gethsemane, Matthew 26:56, but Jesus carried on to the cross and was raised again three days later.
When those you love and trust abandon you look up, for your redemption draws near, Luke 21:28. Go through the painful process, but remember you’re a soldier in the Army of The Lord, and He will raise you up to continue to build His Kingdom.
It is better to please God than man, Acts 5:29.
Keep going, for great is your reward in Heaven when men revile you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for His sake, Matthew 5:11-12.
Remember: false evidence was presented against Jesus and He was still placed on the cross, Matthew 26:59-66. For Stephen it was the same, and he was still stoned, Acts 6:11-13; 7:59-60.
Go through the fire for the Lord is with you, Isaiah 43:2. Be like Nehemiah and continue building, don’t stop. Jesus didn’t answer his accusers, and if you’ve been trying to do that to defend yourself, stop it now. The anger of man does not bring about the righteousness of God, James 1:20. Trust Him for He will never leave you nor forsake you, Hebrews 13:5.
