London Zen Group

London Zen Group The Soto Zen Buddhist tradition emphasises the practice of Zazen: silent, seated meditation. Beginners are always welcome!

The London Zen Group meets regularly to practise zazen - the core practice in the Soto Zen tradition - at our Caledonian Road Location - please always see our website at www.zeninlondon.org for the most up-to-date information. Still and upright, offering our complete attention to each moment, allowing thoughts to pass, we sit in the calm posture of awakening. Our group focuses our practise on Zaze

n - on sitting - but we also practise Kinhin (walking meditaiton), samu (work practice), sewing practice, and sometimes oryoki, formal meal practice. We also sometimes get together for social events and movie nights - and we nearly always go out for coffee after morning zazen - so do join us! The London Zen Group will say goodbye to our friend, Alan Bukka Smith, in a ceremony on Sunday morning. Alan was a pillar of practice in the United Kingdom, one of our most senior monks, and a good friend to many of us. We'll miss his sense of humour, his kind nature, and his outgoing spirit.
Bukka-san passed away peacefully, early Thursday morning.

Some of us will know Ellen from the Bristol Dojo, :-(

Our dear friend Ellen Percival died - suddenly, unexpectedly, like a bolt of lightning from a clear blue sky - on Friday 6th May. We dedicated our Wednesday sit and ceremony to them; a life too brief, but wholeheartedly lived. Farewell, wild Bodhisattva.
