Quakers in Britain

Quakers in Britain Quakers believe there is that of God in everyone and are committed to working for equality and peace. Avoid hurtful criticism and provocative language.

We use social media to provide information about Quakerism, and to engage people with the work we do on behalf of Quakers. Our social media channels are a place for conversation and discussion. To make this possible, we moderate comments based on Advices and queries 17 (https://qfp.quaker.org.uk/chapter/1/):

“Do you respect that of God in everyone though it may be expressed in unfamiliar ways or

be difficult to discern? Each of us has a particular experience of God and each must find the way to be true to it. When words are strange or disturbing to you, try to sense where they come from and what has nourished the lives of others. Listen patiently and seek the truth which other people’s opinions may contain for you. Do not allow the strength of your convictions to betray you into making statements or allegations that are unfair or untrue. Think it possible that you may be mistaken.”

We ask people to follow these guidelines:
• Be respectful of others.
• Do not make personal attacks in your comments.
• Do not post content that is irrelevant, inflammatory, offensive, or abusive.
• Do not post adverts for commercial products or services.
• Do not post repeatedly about issues that are off-topic or consistently dominate the conversation. We will use our own discretion to hide or delete comments that go against these guidelines. If you would like to get in touch with us about our channel moderation, please email [email protected].

Quakers recognise that our human differences are a blessing, that we are all “fearfully and wonderfully made" in the image of God, Psalm 139:14. We rejoice in recognising God's creation in one another, whatever our gender expression. Quakers in Britain has released the following statement on the EHRC's draft code of practice around the UK Supreme Court's ruling on the meaning of s*x in the Equality Act, which is currently before Parliament. 👇🕯️❤️

The UK and Ireland’s ongoing trade with illegal Israeli settlements helps sustain the occupation under which rights like those of Umm al‑Khair’s children are violated.
