La 106a. Arzobispo de Canterbury, La Rvdma. Sarah Mullally ha sido instalada en la Catedral de Canterbury en un servicio que reunió a primados y representantes anglicanos de todo el mundo.

Su sermón inaugural hizo un llamamiento a la iglesia global para responder al llamado de Cristo: "Nuestro mundo de hoy necesita el amor, la sanación y la esperanza que encontramos en Jesucristo. Sigo rezando para que renueve nuestra confianza en esta buena noticia, y nos comprometamos a compartir la alegría del Evangelio. ’

Ella pidió: 'Una iglesia para toda la nación y para el mundo, que busque la manera de unirse a personas de todas las religiones, en actos de servicio que transformarán. Una iglesia que se extiende alrededor del mundo, con nuestras iglesias hermanas en la Comunión Anglicana, como parte de la única iglesia santa, católica y apostólica, para encarnar el amor de Cristo. ’

The 106th Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally has been installed at Canterbury Cathedral in a service that gathered Primates and Anglican representatives from all around the world.

Her inaugural sermon appealed for the global church to respond to the call of Christ: ‘Our world today needs the love, healing and hope that we find in Jesus Christ. I continue to pray that we renew our confidence in this good news, and recommit ourselves to sharing the joy of the Gospel.’

She called for: ‘A church for the whole nation and for the world, which looks for ways of joining with people of all faiths and none, in acts of service that will transform. A church which extends around the world, with our sister churches in the Anglican Communion, as part of the one holy, catholic and apostolic Church, to embody Christ’s love.’

The Confirmation of Election of the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury is happening today (28 January, 2026).

The legal process, set within a worship service, is being held at St Paul’s Cathedral. It will see the Archbishop-Elect, the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Sarah Mullally DBE, enter St Paul’s Cathedral as Bishop of London and leave as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of All England and Metropolitan, vested with the legal and spiritual authority of the office.

She legally assumes the role during this service. This is the penultimate stage in the election process, the last of which will be the Installation on March 25th, which will see Archbishop Sarah begin her public duties as the Archbishop of Canterbury.
