We also have unique historic spaces available for hire as concert, performance and meeting venues. In an age when many are looking for a disciplined way of spirituality and a more meditative s

tyle of worship, St Giles has much to offer. Through preaching and study we aim to present ancient Christian insight for a modern world, so that we may grow in faith and understanding. And for those times when we just need to talk and be heard, here too we can offer time to listen and a heart to reassure. Service details are available here: www.stgilesonline.org

On Oak Apple Day, we commemorate the rescue of King Charles II in 1651, achieved by Richard Penderel, who hid the King in the boughs of the Royal Oak in Boscobel Woods. What many may not realize is that Penderel himself is buried and memorialized in the churchyard of St Giles-in-the-Fields in central London.

This Sunday, immediately after our 11 AM Holy Communion, we will remember Penderel by placing a wreath of oak leaves on his tomb. Come join us to mark this special day - and don’t forget to wear a sprig of oak yourself!

We had such a great talk this week with The St Giles Society, given by Dr Mary L. Shannon about her new book, ‘Billy Waters is Dancing’. The book explores the life of the titular resident of the parish of St Giles-in-the-Fields, who gained both celebrity and (unfairly) infamy as one of London’s first-ever musical buskers. The talk provided some fascinating insights into the historical process of understanding the lives of marginalized people centuries after they lived, separating popular fiction from fact. Thank you to Dr Shannon for joining us!

It’s a spring evening in hectic central London, and you just found an unexpected oasis of calm at St Giles-in-the-Fields, just seconds away from Tottenham Court Road and Denmark Street. People are greeting the Rector outside as they leave Evensong. You can hear a blackbird singing musically somewhere in the garden while the red buses trundle past on the other side of the gate.

Come visit us and join us for one of our midweek services:

🙏 8:15 AM Morning Prayer, Tuesday - Friday
📖 1:15 PM Holy Communion, Thursdays
🕯️6:00 PM Compline, Thursdays

Plus, mark your calendars for a special Choral Evensong with at 6:30 on Thursday 14 May, marking Ascension Day.

Behind the scenes from Easter Sunday at St Giles-in-the-Fields last week (now that one of the Wardens has got the film back from Snappy Snaps). Plates polished, candles decorated, flowers arranged, etc etc etc…!

Grateful beyond measure to all those who give their time and effort to the church each week to help our worship and make a real community of friends here in central London.

From the pews to the pavement on Good Friday, as St Giles-in-the-Fields marked this solemn day with a Walk of Witness through Seven Dials.

You can read an abbreviated version of the stirring sermon preached by on the God’s Time Substack, linked in our bio. An excerpt is below:

“Yet, if we have the courage to keep looking, the picture deepens. We have to ask ourselves if the God who entered so fully into human life—who healed the sick, sat with the despairing, and preached unceasing love—would truly abandon His son to the dark. The cross does not magically abolish human cruelty or mortality. Instead, it reveals a God who chooses absolute solidarity with our pain. What pours down from that place of ultimate suffering is not defeat, but an unlimited, abiding love. Even in the darkest moment, as the light fades and hope seems suspended, that spirit of love is unleashed.”

We hope you’ll join us soon at St Giles-in-the-Fields, whether at one of our Easter services tomorrow (at 11 am and 6:30 pm) or at any of our regular services, set out on our website at the link in our bio.
