Makar Sankranti is the day when the Sun begins its journey northward (called Uttarāyaṇa). In simple words, it marks the movement from darkness to light, from cold to warmth, and from laziness to activity.
What does it teach us?
• Turn towards light: Just as the Sun moves toward the brighter half of the year, we are reminded to move toward good thoughts, truth, and positive actions.
• New beginnings: Farmers celebrate new crops, showing us the value of hard work, patience, and gratitude.
• Sweetness in relationships: We share til-gud (sesame and jaggery) to remind us to speak sweetly, forgive, and live in harmony, even if life brings heat or pressure.
• Rise higher: Flying kites teaches children to aim high, stay balanced, and not give up—even when the wind is strong.
Simple message:
Makar Sankranti reminds us to rise above darkness, live with warmth and kindness, and walk the path of goodness.
May this auspicious day fill young hearts with hope, joy, and wisdom.
On this great occasion, also, we should be chanting The Gayatri Mantra and also Hanumaan Chalisa many times during this day!
Aum Suryaaya Namah
Aum Adityaaya Namah
Aum Bhaskaraaya Namah!
It was very difficult not taking this opportunity to show the world where Soorya Bhagwaan is beaming down its blessings!
