Following the Chrism Mass at St George’s Cathedral, the Sacred Oils blessed yesterday are now being distributed to every parish, including those across the Lambeth Deanery (from our Church).

This year’s oils carry a profound significance: the Archdiocese purchased 25 litres of olive oil through Canaan Fair Trade, an organization supporting family farms across 43 different villages in the Holy Land. Produced by a local Christian family, this oil serves as a tangible act of solidarity with those living in the Holy Land during these challenging times.

Last Saturday, 17 January, the Scalabrini Fathers, together with various Filipino communities across the UK, joyfully celebrated the Feast of Santo Niño for the Filipino community. The Holy Mass was presided over by The Most Reverend Archbishop John Wilson, with the gracious presence of His Excellency Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. and members of the Philippine Embassy in London.
The celebration was concelebrated by 12 priests and attended by around 1,500 faithful, coming together in faith, unity, and joy.
The Feast of Santo Niño reminds us that God comes to us in humility and love as a child, inviting us to live with childlike faith, trust, and hope. It is a beautiful expression of the deep culture and faith tradition of the Filipino people, bringing families and communities together wherever they may be.
Viva Señor Santo Niño! 🇵🇭🙏

A lapinha e o presépio falam a mesma língua.

Dear parishioners,

Our hearts are full of gratitude and joy for this Jubilee Year, where we shared memorable moments of faith, festivals, service and formation. It has been an intense year for everyone. Thanks to all of you who dedicated time and energy to the numerous activities. You are contributing to spreading the Good News of Jesus, supporting people and creating bonds and friendships across generations.

Scalabrini Community London is a place where everyone can feel at home and can flourish in a new life as baptised members, spreading fraternity and love. We cultivate a sense of belonging to this Church, where London's diversity finds home. We come from different backgrounds, speak different languages, and celebrate in different ways, yet we are united by the same Gospel of Jesus, the Charism of Saint John Baptist Scalabrini, and a shared deep longing for peace, equality, and justice.

At the very beginning of this new pastoral year, we decided to walk as a Synodal Church, embracing communion, participation, and mission as Pope Francis and Leo XIV are calling us to do. This means promoting a synodal attitude that fosters mutual listening, shared participation and a genuine walk as a community of disciples in London. Here, we are called to be a sign of hope in a turbulent world. We would like to carry these desires and intentions through the next year.

We experience firsthand that it is a fruitful but hard way. In the day-to-day life of our Community, miscommunications, misunderstandings, gossip… can suffocate the beauty of the Gospel and our fraternity. At the end of 2025 and at the start of a new year, let's renew our desire to build bridges. Let's cultivate safe spaces where we can dialogue and share opinions. That is how people and communities grow and flourish.

We would like to raise a point about sustainability: Our mother Earth is crying. Let's increase our commitment to care and be more mindful of our impact on the Planet. We're thinking of personal and day-to-day choices, but also as a community. Let's avoid single-use plastic items, buying useless things, and creating mountains of rubbish. Let's commit ourselves to thinking about our impact and how to reduce it in every activity that we organize in our Church. Moreover, we would like to renew our Scalabrini Hall. Let's start planning it soon.

“I proclaim to you good news of great joy: today a Savior is born for us, Christ the Lord”. Lk 2:10-11

Our hearts are also with the population of Gaza, the Holy Land and places under war and violence. May the little baby born in Bethlehem bring peace into your hearts and light into the world.

We wish you and your family a pleasant Christmas time and Happy New Year.

Waiting for the baby who changed the world?

It has been an emotional and fulfilling weekend at the Scalabrini Fathers’ mission.

We welcomed back Father Francesco Buttazzo, who with his wisdom reminded us that “the Kingdom is near because it is within us.” Through his music and reflections, he helped us enter into a deeper meditation on the Word of the Lord, inviting us to prepare the way of the Lord.

We also had the joy of welcoming the Sisters Minor of St. Francis. Through their reading of the Gospel of the Nativity and their gentle spiritual guidance, they encouraged us to reflect on the profound truth that we are not merely numbers in a world that often overlooks the individual, but beloved children of God. Their presence helped renew our sense of dignity, hope, and belonging.

It was a weekend filled with grace, community, and renewed purpose, and of course food and companionship, one that left our hearts uplifted and reminded us of the beauty of waiting together for the Baby who changed the world, allowing His love to be born again within us.

Building a Culture of Care Together! ✨

The safety and well-being of every person, especially our children and vulnerable adults, is a shared responsibility at Scalabrini Community London.

Our Catechists and Coordinators are currently undertaking essential Safeguarding Training this weekend, aligning our practices with the rigorous standards of the CSSA and RLSS.

This vital formation helps us:

Understand appropriate safe conduct

Identify signs of risk and concern

Ensure transparent and immediate reporting.

A big thank you to our Catechists and Coordinators for their vital commitment to our entire community!
