St Peter in the Forest

St Peter in the Forest St Peter-in-the-Forest is the parish church for the north-eastern corner of Walthamstow, London E17 We sometime hold our worship times outside in the forest.

St Peter's is a church family, worshipping God and growing together in faith and love. The congregation and preaching team consist women and men representing an eclectic mix of church traditions, ages and ethnicities. We have a good musical set-up, with organ, choir and orchestra. Children are an active part of the worshipping life and are very welcome at St Peter's. As a church we try to serve ou

r wider community, not least through the provision of our community centre, Peterhouse. We invite you to come and find a warm welcome at St Peter's-in-the-Forest. St Peter's church building is in a lovely, early-Victorian Italianate-style, and is set in a slither of Epping Forest but otherwise in the heart of Walthamstow, London E17. It was awarded a Grade II listing in April 2009. Fire damage to the building in the 1970s led to extensive re-ordering and the inside is now a very light and open space with some delightful works of art from 1840 to the present day.

Day two of our Preloved Prom Pop-Up and we've very kindly had some more donations of suits as well as gorgeous frocks. If you know someone in need of an outfit for prom, bring them along to choose one and borrow one, have an amazing time wearing it, and bring it back next year so it can all go again!

12-4 upstairs in St Peter's in the Forest church.

Good for your wallet, for your sanity, for your environment 💪

It's our Preloved Prom Pop-Up this weekend!

If you know a young person who would find it useful to borrow formal wear for their prom, do send them our way:
Sat/Sun 12-4.

It's all been donated by our brilliant community; all we ask is that they wear it, feel fabulous, and bring it back next year so someone else can borrow it.

This event is inside the church itself.

An excellent morning full of butterflies. Here we are making butterfly toast. 🦋

Next week at forest school we'll be thinking about bees 🐝 and honey 🍯

I wonder if you might have any wax from one of your hives that we could explore? Or indeed if you fancy popping in to visit and tell us about the churchyard hive?

A joyful morning exploring the Trinity, and as the collect put it, 'expanding our minds'. We looked at Celtic knotwork, plaits, and three leaved clover, and wondered about the ways they help us imagine the trinity, and the places they fall short. We enjoyed exploring a mystery that is too big to fit inside a human mind!

Corpus Christi is when we give thanks for the institution of the sacrament of communion.

Mthr Rachel will be celebrating the Eucharist at Snaresbrook Crown court at 1320, to which anyone is very welcome.

We are also offering a short service of adoration and benediction in the evening, where the holy sacrament will be on the altar, worship music will be played, and we can spend some time in grateful prayer and praise of the one who loves us and feeds us with himself.
