This Sunday is Easter 3 and we hear the story from Luke of two disciples on the road to Emmaus who tried to make sense of their grief over the crucifixion, and how Jesus chose that moment, that road, to meet them; not forcing recognition, but waiting for them to invite him to stay. The scriptures have been explained, the journey shared, the table was set; revelation unfolds through conversation, companionship and a shared meal.

This Sunday is the second of Easter and we hear the Gospel of John tell the story of the risen Jesus appearing to his disciples. A life-changing moment for them all as they are changed from a people hiding from persecution to one who tells the whole world the incredible news of who Jesus is. Today, as our world still shouts hatred, and division seems to grow daily, the risen Christ calls us to choose the harder, braver path of love and reconciliation.

You are invited to Holy Communion at 9.30am. Evening prayers will be at 6.30pm. All are welcome.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.

Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away! As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

“Don’t be afraid,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him."
