Today we remember Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who died four years ago, on this day in 2022.

As a royal church, Westminster Abbey had a special relationship with the Queen. Over the course of her life, she came here often for state occasions and national services, and some of the most important moments of her life took place here.

We're praying for all those to be ordained deacon and priest soon; and in particular for Fiona Macaulay who was ordinand on placement here until earlier in the summer when she moved to her curacy parish of St Laurence Upminster.

The bunnies of Sowing Seeds 🌱 set sail with Jesus today and weathered a great storm 🌊 as told by Matthew 8 v23-27 (and our Sarah!)

We made our own stormy ⛈️ seas and sailed origami boats to safety.

The adults talked about finding peace in the midst of our own personal storms - we observed how boats don’t sink because of the water around them but because of the water that gets into them (not a Bible quote but couldn’t it easily have been!) and considered the metaphor of the unpredictable sea! 🚤

We pray for those affected by the tragedy at the Big Church Festival and all those who were directly and indirectly affected by it in different ways. Sometimes our storms are unexpected passings and sometimes our storms are weathering online backlash about our beliefs - with Christ in our boat, we’re in sure and confident hands and we have all the tools we need to make the best decisions we can for our voyages.

We've got a free singing workshop for 7-14 year old children on Saturday 12 September 2-5pm and many children who attend decide to become part of our free Junior Choir with weekly rehearsals and opportunities to sing at Harvest, Remembrance and Christmas. Congratulations to Jack and Laura who were confirmed at St Mary's recently by Lynne, Bishop of Barking. Jack (yellow top) also sang a solo in the choir alongside eight other members of his family. Laura (in green, holding a candle in front of the altar) was also baptised by Bishop Lynne at the same service. If you're interested in taking your next step in faith please get in touch.
