Missio

Missio We are the Pope's official charity for world mission. Whatever our missionaries need to help them share the joy of the Gospel, Missio strives to provide it.

Missio ignites God’s love by helping local missionaries to work alongside global communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief. Sometimes this need might be very specific: a motorbike for a Priest to celebrate Mass in remote villages; a simple community hall so people can gather together; vaccinations to protect vulnerable children. By supporting Missio, you play a

vital part in creating a vibrant Catholic Church for the future. By volunteering, raising or donating funds, and by praying with children, grandchildren or students, YOU make our mission possible. Together we are enriching today’s global Catholic community. Together we are training tomorrow’s generation of Priests and Sisters. Together we are giving hope to the world’s poorest children. Together we are Missio.

🕊️As Christians, we all have a mission: to share God’s love with the whole world. No one is too young or too small to take part. Through Mission Together, children everywhere pray for and share with one another, in a unique exchange of love and friendship. 🌟

By praying for one another and sharing what we have, we all belong
to God’s worldwide family.

🕊️ This Week's Mission Rosary: 'I Carry You in My Heart'

On 12 June, Pope Leo XIV fulfilled an incomplete intention of his predecessor, Pope Francis, with an Apostolic Visit to migrants at Las Raíces Centre (the roots centre), Tenerife. He listened to their stories and let them know that he cares for them. Inspired by this visit, our Mission Rosary is offered for all migrants and refugees who must leave their homes in search of peace and safety. We pray that we will be instrumental in helping them to find that peace.
We pray for migrants and refugees:
💛 Asia – fleeing war, injustice and oppression
💙 Oceania – climate refugees seeking new roots
🤍 Europe – welcomed to share their gifts and culture
❤️ Americas – deserving compassion and restored dignity
💚 Africa – finding safe harbour and hope

Volunteers are the backbone of all mission work. Missionaries around the world couldn’t do what they do without the gentle, quiet acts of Red Box volunteers. Our new Community Engagement Coordinator Megan shares:

‘I’ve always been in awe with the ways the Catholic community of England and Wales stand alongside our sisters and brothers across the world. It’s been inspiring over the past few weeks to learn of the many ways Red Box volunteers are missionaries themselves, answering the call to be missionary disciples in their own communities, reaching out to others and sharing God’s love. Each of these small ways build into something incredible. '

Thank you, our amazing volunteers for all your work to share God's love around the world!

Missio and the Mill Hill Missionaries are celebrating 90 years of the Red Box this year - 90 years of working together to share God's love with everyone, everywhere!

Ninety years ago, when Missio and the Mill Hill Missionaries began their partnership, no one could have imagined how charitable giving would evolve. The simple Red Box collecting coins to support the Church’s worldwide mission, became a powerful symbol of shared faith and love.

On Volunteers' Week, Fr Gerry Hastie – the Vicar General of the Mill Hill Missionaries – has this special message for all the people who give their time to make mission possible through the Red Box.
