Missio

Missio We are the Pope's official charity for world mission. Whatever our missionaries need to help them share the joy of the Gospel, Missio strives to provide it.

Missio ignites God’s love by helping local missionaries to work alongside global communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief. Sometimes this need might be very specific: a motorbike for a Priest to celebrate Mass in remote villages; a simple community hall so people can gather together; vaccinations to protect vulnerable children. By supporting Missio, you play a

vital part in creating a vibrant Catholic Church for the future. By volunteering, raising or donating funds, and by praying with children, grandchildren or students, YOU make our mission possible. Together we are enriching today’s global Catholic community. Together we are training tomorrow’s generation of Priests and Sisters. Together we are giving hope to the world’s poorest children. Together we are Missio.

Missio and the Mill Hill Missionaries are celebrating 90 years of the Red Box this year - 90 years of working together to share God's love with everyone, everywhere!

Ninety years ago, when Missio and the Mill Hill Missionaries began their partnership, no one could have imagined how charitable giving would evolve. The simple Red Box collecting coins to support the Church’s worldwide mission, became a powerful symbol of shared faith and love.

On Volunteers' Week, Fr Gerry Hastie – the Vicar General of the Mill Hill Missionaries – has this special message for all the people who give their time to make mission possible through the Red Box.

This year the feast of Corpus Christi is on 7 June. The solemnity (the highest rank for a liturgical feast) is a time to remember what the Eucharist means for Catholics: how it feeds our life and unites Catholics all over the world as one body in Christ.

Mission Together, Missio's children's branch, has created a new Celebration of the Word to explore this important feast day. Download this and many more free school resources at the link in the comments 👇

For many of us, faith is the greatest gift we have ever received. It has shaped who we are and sustained us through life's joys and struggles. During Catholic Legacy Week, we're inviting you to help pass that gift on – by leaving a gift in your Will to Missio.

Gifts in Wills already fund one in four Missio projects. Quietly, powerfully, they allow missionaries, priests and religious sisters to live and work alongside the world's poorest communities – helping people overcome the injustice, violence and poverty that deny them their God-given dignity.

Big or small, every legacy gift matters. You don't need to be wealthy. You just need to care – and you clearly do. Find out how simple it can be 👇

🌍 Mission season is here — and what a start it has been!

We kicked off our Mission Mass cycle with a wonderful gathering at St Wilfrid's Catholic Church in Leeds, celebrating the Eucharist and hearing the inspiring story of Fr Emmanuel MHM, originally from Cameroon.

"This is a Mass of thank you's! Thank you for sponsoring me and all the Mill Hill Missionaries who you support."

We also said a heartfelt farewell to Theresa, our Community Engagement Coordinator for the Northern Dioceses, as she retires after six years of dedicated service. Thank you, Theresa! 🌸

'The Spirit also opens borders in our relationship with others. Jesus tells us that this Gift is the love between him and the Father that comes to dwell within us. We then become capable of opening our hearts to our brothers and sisters, overcoming our rigidity, moving beyond our fear of those who are different'

On the Feast of Pentecost we call to mind these words from the Holy Father. We ask the Holy Spirit to be with us and inspire us so that, as a global Church, we may cross borders and divisions to reach out with love and compassion, sharing the Good news of Jesus' Resurrection with all who need his salvation.

Bishop Vincent explains the importance of Missio and how vital it is in sharing the love of Jesus around the world.

Missio is the Pope’s charity for world mission. We are also known as the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in various countries.

Missio continues the work of the Society of St Peter the Apostle (SPA), supporting the training of seminarians and novices in mission dioceses.

Hear Bishop Vincent Mwakawa share how Missio (which he refers to as St Peter the Apostle/SPA) has been instrumental in spreading the love of Jesus across all continents.
