North Finchley Mosque

North Finchley Mosque EST. 1977 - Finchley Masjid / IANL, serving the community for over 40 years. The Islamic Association of North London (IANL) was registered as a charity in 1977.

Its activities, particularly those around faith, began long before its formal registration and the development of its current centre near Tally Ho Corner, North Finchley. The objects of the Charity are

- The advancement of religion in accordance with the tenets, philosophy, ideology and traditions of Islam
- The advancement of education of Muslim children in accor

dance with the tenets and teachings of Islam
- The relief of such members of the Muslim community who are poor and in distress

A Vibrant Community
------------------------
Barnet is a vibrant community with a Muslim population of 20,000 which is around 6% of the all the religious groups in Barnet (Christians and Jews are 150,000 and 47,000 respectively). These three faith groups represent circa 70% of all the religious groups in the London Borough of Barnet. The remaining 30% comprises other religions. The vast majority of the Muslims are from over 65 different countries from Asia (including the Middle-East), Africa, Europe and South America. This makes the congregation in Finchley Mosque very diverse and unique compared to other Islamic and other faith institutions within the UK. The Facilities

The Finchley Mosque provides the following facilities:
- Five daily prayers
- Friday prayers
- Children’s Islamic Education
- Children and Adult Qur’an classes
- Youth activities including keep-fit classes, table tennis etc.
- Hadith classes (Learning from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him).
- Facilities for Marriage and other ceremonies. The centre can accommodate 650 worshippers at any one time. In addition to the daily prayers which are well attended, the centre is very popular during Fridays, the two Eid festivals and Ramadan, the month of fasting. Because of its popularity and the growing local population we have to hold 2 congregational prayers on Fridays and 5 congregational prayers on the respective Eid days to accommodate the worshippers. Alhamdulillah, it was truly inspiring to see thousands of you come out to offer Eid al-Adha prayers in the open. 🕌☀️ Eid al-Adha is a reminder of sacrifice, devotion, and complete submission to Allah, following the legacy of Ibrahim (AS) and his family, and in obedience to our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

Eid is also about community, family, and standing together, and we sincerely hope that everyone had a meaningful and uplifting Eid experience. 👥❤️ Events like these require tremendous effort and dedication from our trustees, staff, imams, and volunteers. We are deeply grateful for their service and commitment. 🙌

None of this would be possible without your duas and ongoing support. 🌟 As we look ahead with hope and ambition, we kindly ask you to continue keeping IANL in your duas and to come forward to support your masjid in any way you can. 🤲💼

As the beautiful day of Eid al-Adha arrives, we pray that Allah accepts our duas and ibadaat over these 10 days.

We are absolutely thrilled to invite our entire community—brothers, sisters, youngsters, and elders—to unite for a single, grand Jamaat outdoors! 🌳🐏

📅 When: Tomorrow, Wednesday 27th May
⏰ Time: 10:30 am sharp (Please arrive at 10am to find your spot!)
📍 Where: Glebelands Wood Nature Reserve (Behind Finchley Vue Cinema)

🎒 Your Eid Checklist – What to bring:
• Your prayer mat 🧘‍♂️
• A bag for your shoes 🧳
• A bottle of water to stay hydrated 💧
• A portable chair if you need one 🪑

⚠️ Important Bits to Remember:
• Wudhu: There are no facilities on-site, so please ensure you perform your wudhu before leaving home.
• Parking: Plenty of space is available at the main Finchley Lido Car Park (2 Leisure Way, N12 0GL), which is just a short 3-minute stroll to the prayer area. Limited elderly and disabled parking is reserved next to Glebelands Indoor Bowls Club (N12 0PD).
• Keep an eye on our WhatsApp and Telegram channels tomorrow morning for any emergency updates.

🕌 Can’t make it to the park? We also have an early Eid Salah at the Masjid at 5:15 am (Fajr Jamaat is at 4:20 am).
