Have you ever thought that the erosion of free expression is limited to repressive regimes? Think again. Shockingly, it is rampant even in the West. A case that exemplifies this deeply troubling trend is that of Päivi Räsänen, a grandmother, medical doctor, and member of Finland's Parliament. Can...

Exegesis of the Lord's prayer...cont.
....For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
For every kingdom there is a king with power to rule for a given time. In the case of God, He is the parmanent king and owner of the kingdom that is why a definite article 'the' is used- thine is the kingdom and the power. His power of rulership is absolute. God is sovereign in His kingdom and He is supreme. It is fascinating to know that all other kings and kingdoms are subject to Him and His rulership. It is important to know the position and the power of the personalty you are praying to. David wrote: " The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; The world, and they that dwell therein". Psalm 24:1. Paul also wrote: for by Him were all things created,
that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Colossians 1:16 KJV.
The Lord's prayer began with worship and ends in acknowledgement of the sovereignty and supremacy of God. It can be said that "God owns the yam and the knife" . He has every creature as yam and the knife as weapon (power) to determine the fate of the yam. Interestingly, and unfortunately for power mongers, this position of God and His kingdom is forever. No clan is taking turn or next in line to ascend the throne of God. "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever...."
Isaiah 9:7 KJV. What a priviledge for believers to pray to this so powerful God. God is the king of kings and all kingdoms are subject to Him. Therefore, He can overrule king's rules to suit your purpose. The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, As the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
Proverbs 21:1 KJV

Prayer: use your supremacy LORD, and overrule every rule against me in my favour. Take me from the house of labour to the house of favour in Jesus name.
Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: For the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.
Psalm 102:13 KJV

Exegesis of the Lord's prayer...cont.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
God do not tempt as He is incapable of being tempted by evil and He is never a source of temptation James 1:13. Rather, we are hooked by the bait of evil from our desire. Consequently, we need to pray to God to help us tame our evil desires. Secondly, we need to pray to God to deliver us from the evil of making wrong choices, because wrong choices have consequences. We make wrong choices, not intentional but because we are ignorant of the likely consequences. Thirdly, we pray to God to deliver us from the evil we are likely to walk into. There is evil in each day, that is why Jesus says "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Matthew 6:34 KJV. Jesus is saying, instead of worrying about the future, think about the evil in today that may prevent you from seeing tomorrow. You cannot afford not to pray this prayer daily.

Exegesis of the Lord's prayer...cont.
......And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
Debt is a metaphor for our sins and forgiveness is giving up our right to hurt back. There is always a reward for giving:
give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38. We can conclude from this verse that offences has measures. It could be in gravity or, and in frequency. Whichever, you are expected to let go. Peter came to Jesus and asked " Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times"? The answer Jesus gave him indicates that we ought to forgive without limit. Also, Jesus says, " and when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them so that your father in heaven may forgive you your sin" Mark 11:25. It can be deduced from this verse and the Lord's prayer that forgiveness of other's debts (offences) is a condition for the forgiveness of our sins. As we pray and ask for forgivess of our sins from God, remember to forgive others regardless of how many times they have offended you and the gravity of the offence. I can confess that it is not easy to forgive some offences because of the gravity but you can ask for the grace to forgive all offences. "To whom much is given, much is required" Luke 13:48. God has forgiven us much.

Exegesis of the Lord's prayer...cont.
......Give us this day our daily bread
Man is dual in nature. He is body and soul. The body is made from the soil while the soul consist the breath of God. The body was lifeless untill God breath into it and it became a living soul Genesis 2:7. Consequently, based on one of the principles of creation that any material that is used to create anything must maintain and sustain that thing. The produce of the soil sustains the body. Also, the breath of God sustains the soul of man. The breath of God is His word. For man to live, he must eat both physical bread and spiritual bread. That is why Jesus says. "man shall not live by bread (physical) alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God Matt. 4:4. Another thing about the bread is that it must be eaten daily. Hence, Jesus taught us to pray "....give us this day our daily bread". We must study the word of God (logos) and get revelation (rhema) on a daily basis just as we eat physical bread (food) everyday and digest it. God instructed the Israelites to gather enough manna for each day which was an allegory for the word of God. The interesting thing is that when you study the word of God you get ideas and revelation about how to make wealth as it is written: .....He giveth power to make wealth Deut. 8:18. Consequently, we can say "there is bread inside bread". When you pray for daily bread, you are praying for daily sustenance which can only be by the word of God. Jesus says " the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit and they are life John 6:63. Therefore, if you desire life, ask for daily bread today and always.

Exegesis of the Lord's Prayer:
....Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
There is need to establish what the will of God is concerning us as it is determined by heaven (God). Paul writes as it relates to the will of God for us: " In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you" 1Thess 5:18.
God's plan is that He would take us to expected end. It is interesting to know that sometimes we are transported to the expected end through an unfamiliar means.
Paul encourages us to give thanks unto God, first, because it is the will of God for us to worship Him as they do in heaven. The Psalmist encourages us to enter His gate with Thanksgiving and His court with praises. Secondly, as believers in Christ, operating in the kingdom of God, we are encouraged to give thanks to God for all our experiences, either good or 'bad' on the premises that no strand of our hair will fall off without His knowledge and that all things work together for our good Romans 8:28.
Ye ask, and receive not; because ye ask amiss.....James 4:3. Many times we ask God to take us away from the experience that will take us to the expected end which is His will and thought towards us. Imagine Joseph asking God to destroy Portiphar's wife as she began to make advances towards him. At that time Portiphar's wife was another means of transportation for Joseph to the plan and purpose of God. The first means of transportation were his ten brothers. Thanksgiving is the only prayer that cannot be offered amiss because your situation either past or present, good or 'bad is experiential. It is not certain that your request will be granted. Hence you can ask amiss but you cannot thank amiss.
Pray today and always that the will of God will be done in your life as it is determined by heaven (God)- worshipping God always and giving thanks always because every situation will work for your good.

Good morning!

Exegesis of the Lord's prayer...cont.
......Thy kingdom come.

The kingdom of God will be considered in the context of Romans 14:17 " For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. It simply means that the kingdom of God is not about rules of what to eat , drink, do and what not to eat, drink or do but righteousness, peace and joy as perceived and given by the Holy Spirit. Man perceive righteousness as moral which the bible tags as 'filthy rags' Isaiah 64:6. They perceive peace as having security based on what they have acquired like in the case of a rich fool " Then I can just sit back, surrounded with comfort and ease. I'll enjoy life with no worries at all Luke 12:19 TPT. Also, they perceve joy as a feeling of happiness derived from apprehension of material things and attainment of worldly status and pleasures.
However, righteousness as perceived or imputed by the Holy Spirit is both holiness and 'rightness'. These two are connected. When you do what is 'right' in the eyes of God it will be counted for you as holiness (righteousness), as God counted the faith of Abraham as righteousness Genesis 15:6. To do the right thing we need to depend on the Holy Spirit because what is right in a circumstance may be wrong in another circumstatance. There is a time for everything Eccle. 3:1-8. Also, the word of God (Logos) is 2 edged sword. You need Rhema to apply each edge. The peace in the kingdom of God is living a life that is void of worries even amidst trouble, chaos, and delay. Consider the word of Christ to His disciples " my peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you not as the world giveth give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid. Peace and joy in the Holy Ghost are connected. If you have peace amidst turbulence you will have eyes for details and ears for instructions. So, when solutions are flashing and instructions are given you will see and hear. Once you are able to solve or overcome a problem in God's way you will have joy that last. " the blessings of the LORD, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it Proverbs 10:22. Pray today and always to experience the kingdom of God which is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Exegesis of the Lord's prayer...cont.
......Hallowed be thy name

The name of God is His personalty and His person must be referenced and revered. One of the ten commandments states that "thou shall not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain" Exodus 20:7- it means that once you identify with God, you must not drag His name in the mud, you must not misrepresent Him. Whenever you say the Lords prayer you are pledging that you will uphold His name (personalty).
Secondly, God must be approached with worship in prayers. The Psalmist says: "enter His gate with Thanksgiving " Psalm 100:4. Worship places God where He belongs. He is glorious in holiness, beautiful, majestic, and awesome. We can say worship keeps the garment of God sparkling and immaculate. That is why the 24 elders and the 4 beasts bow before Him saying holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty Revelation 4:8-10.
Remember, only God must be worshiped. Men could be venerated (honoured), but not worshipped Isaiah 42:8. Barnabas and Paul disallowed men from worshipping them Act 14:11-18.
Approach God today and always with reference and don't forget to uphold His personalty always.
Good morning!

10/01/2022

Exegesis of the Lord's Prayer:

Our Father Who Art in Heaven:
The Lord's prayer begins in this manner for us to have the sense that:
1. God is a father
2. God is our father corporately. Therefore, do not forsake assembling together- Hebrews 10:25
3. God is also the father of the 'unbelievers' though they are estranged from Him like the prodigal son
4. The abode of God is above (heaven) and He that is above is above all, and everything John 3:31
Knowing that God is above all, and everything gives us confidence that He is able to do all things and that every good and perfect gift comes from Him (above), the father of light with whom there is no variableness James 1:17
Approach Him today and always with this sense.
Good morning!
