There is a popular myth surrounding Christianity that says that once you become a Christian, everything in your life will improve.
When new and old Christians find that they are continuing to experience challenges, they can quickly become overwhelmed and confused. After all, shouldn’t life be easy when you put your faith in God?
The truth is life isn’t always easy for anyone. But, if you’re looking for Christian motivation, here are some ways that you can look to during the tough times.
I Can Do All Things…
One of the most used motivational verses is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” This is an excellent verse from which many people draw comfort. It reminds us that we do not need to make it through life on our strength alone.
There is something that is reassuring about knowing that we don’t need to be able to handle these challenging times on our own.
When you have someone else to help you through a situation, it can become much more manageable.
2 Corinthians 3:5 says, “Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.” You do not need to be able to handle it all on your own because you can draw from the limitless strength of God.
The Living Word
If you need some motivation during tough times, there is no better place to turn than the Bible. It is the word of God. Many people call it the living word. The Bible can speak to people today as much as it did thousands of years ago.
You can take a group of people, have them read the same verses, and each person will take away something different. The verses may give you different insights depending on when you read them.
Fellowship
We are not meant to walk in life alone. You can find the motivation that you need by surrounding yourself with other people with similar beliefs.
If you need help, consider joining a Bible study group. This is a good way to find people to hold you accountable during the trying times. In addition, you might discover friends to rally around and support you.
Peace
It can be easy to lose focus during tough times and make the wrong decisions. When we are struggling, it might be easier to compromise or justify decisions. However, as Christians, we have peace to help guide us. If you are going through a tough time, start paying attention when you begin to “lose your peace.” This might mean you do not feel good about something, are uncomfortable with it, or you become anxious and worried.
One study found that belief in God helped when struggling with fears about the future, the unknown, and death.
