Join us in Amigo Hall on Saturday 27th June as we welcome The Medaille Trust and Caritas Southwark, who are delighted to be visiting the Cathedral to begin their Archdiocesan-wide Arts Roadshow dedicated to raising awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking.

The Medaille Trust is one of the UK’s leading providers of support for survivors of modern slavery, and they run safe houses and community projects across the country. This event at St George’s Cathedral will see Amigo Hall transformed into an exhibition space, displaying artwork created by survivors of modern slavery. Alongside this exhibition, there will be a talk and an opportunity for discussion, with the aim of helping parishioners better understand the realities of exploitation in today’s world.

The event begins after the 9.30am Mass at 10.30am and will run until 2.30pm. There’s no obligation to stay for a set amount of time – feel free to come along and mingle for as long as you like!

Last week, St George’s Cathedral marked the Solemnity of Corpus Christi with a beautiful procession, giving thanks for the precious gift of Christ’s Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist.

This coincided with our monthly Young Adults Mass, where Fr Phil Andrews reminded those gathered of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, saying:

“We are not gathered this evening around an idea. We are not gathered around a memory. We are not gathered around a symbol merely pointing back to something absent. We are gathered around the living Lord Jesus Christ: crucified and risen; present and active; humble and glorious; hidden beneath the appearances of bread and wine, yet truly, really, and substantially present among us.”
