We live in a culture that encourages skepticism toward faith while continuing to embrace many of the values Christianity helped shape—human dignity, charity, forgiveness, equality, care for the vulnerable and many other values.
Richard Dawkins captures this tension when he says, “I like to live in a culturally Christian country, even if I don’t believe a single word of Christian faith”.
In other words, he appreciates the fruit of Christianity while rejecting its root.
