Last night, Church on the Corner, KXC & the Al Asharaf Community welfare association hosted 100 people at The Caledonian Road Meal for Hope as part of the campaign. At a time when certain voices claim that diversity harms community cohesion, Christians and Muslims, long term residents and newly arrived refugees, tower block residents and townhouse dwellers came together to enjoy a joyful night of food, live music, and collaborative crafts; to celebrate the generosity, compassion, and love that transcends divides and marks our shared humanity; to declare that hopeful action, not hateful rhetoric, is the answer to the problems of growing economic inequality, a shortage of meaningful work, deep social disconnection, and ailing public services we face in the UK.
