This Sunday at Streatham Baptist Church, we shared in a powerful intergenerational communion.

Together, we came forward and placed one hand in red paint — a visual reminder of our sin — then pressed it onto the cross, remembering that Jesus bore our sin in his body on the cross.

Afterwards, each hand was gently washed clean — a beautiful sign that through Jesus, our sin is washed away and we are made new.

From there, we took the bread and the cup back to our seats, gathering in small prayer huddles across the room to share communion together — young and old, side by side, remembering Christ and praying as one church family.

A simple, moving act of confession, grace, and communion.

In week 3 of our The Generous Life series, Pastor Bruce Nadin explores one of Jesus’ key teachings on money, possessions, and stewardship through the Parable of the Faithful Servant.

In a culture that tells us to accumulate more, protect more, and consume more, Jesus offers a radically different vision: everything belongs to God, and we are caretakers of His resources.

In this message we explore:

• The biblical principle of stewardship
• What it means to be “trusted with much”
• How God blesses us—not simply to accumulate—but to be generous
• Practical New Testament principles for giving: regularly, proportionately, sacrificially, voluntarily, and joyfully

Jesus teaches that life is not found in what we own, but in knowing God and using what He has entrusted to us for His glory and the good of others.

Key truth:
God owns it all. We steward it for His purposes. He blesses us so we can bless others.

THE GENEROUS LIFE 2 – The Trap of Greed

https://youtu.be/75IDntI4eZw

What if the life you’re chasing is actually leading you in the wrong direction?

In this second message from The Generous Life series, we explore Jesus’ powerful warnings about greed—and why a life centred on accumulation will never satisfy the deeper longings of the human heart.

We live in a culture constantly shaping us to want more: more success, more possessions, more experiences. Yet Jesus exposes the truth—wealth can deceive us, grip us, and ultimately pull us away from the life that is truly life.

In this sermon, we unpack:

How our culture quietly forms greed within us
Why money promises what it can never deliver
The subtle but dangerous grip wealth can have on our hearts
A better pathway: contentment, generosity, and simplicity

Drawing from the teachings of Jesus and 1 Timothy 6, this message offers both a warning and an invitation—to step out of the trap of greed and into the freedom and joy of a generous life.

Key Scripture:
Matthew 6:19–20
Luke 12:15
Mark 4:18–19
Matthew 19:23–24
1 Timothy 6

Take a next step:
Identify something you own but no longer need—and give it away. Step into the freedom of generosity and discover the joy it brings.

If this message encouraged or challenged you, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share it with others.
