Ian the vicar writes:

At the end of our Sunday worship service this morning it was announced that I have submitted my resignation to the Bishop of Edmonton. After twelve years serving at St James’s, I will be leaving the Parish of Enfield Highway and Brimsdown to begin a new season of ministry, and a new chapter in my life.

In a letter received from the Cabinet Office this past week, the Lord Chancellor has confirmed the appointment to become the next vicar of Bagshot. It will be announced officially in the church press on Monday 14 September.

As to the where—where I’m headed is to a parish in Surrey, in the Diocese of Guildford. As to the when, this is still to be determined with Bishop Anderson this coming week. It’s been suggested that this would happen in the autumn—definitely before Christmas, and probably before Advent. More will be revealed in the coming days, I hope, as things become clearer.

But for now, I’m still with you a little while longer until my last service at St James’s. Until then, I am and remain one committed to wanting the very best for you spiritually, and in every other way. In that, please know I will endeavour to do my utmost in the time I have left with you.
