‘God has called you by name and made you his own.’ What a joyful morning at St Paul’s as these glorious people responded to God’s call on their lives. We are so grateful for Bishop Anderson’s presence and ministry among us.

Please pray for those who have received the grace of confirmation, and those who have been received into the communion of the Church of England; and for the people of this parish as we seek to grow in faith, hope and love.

Please pray for these wonderful people, 13 of whom are to receive the sacrament of confirmation tomorrow, and two to be received into the communion of the Church of England. God has called them by name and made them his own.

Bishop Anderson joins us this Sunday. Please pray for Carin, Ian, Isabelle, Georgia, Poppy, Amelia, Hugh, Ava, Clara, Eva, Scarlett, Gordon and Amir, to be confirmed; and for Ava and Sophia, to be received into the communion of the Church of England.

We will hear in the gospel reading how Jesus calls his twelve apostles, and sends them out to “proclaim the good news”. We pray that those who receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of confirmation may be equipped for this apostolic mission, and that we may all join in the task of making the gospel of Jesus Christ known to this generation.

We want to make walking pilgrimages part of our regular offering - with a range of lengths and difficulties. Join us for a 7 mile walk starting and ending at Hertford North Station on Saturday 8 August. We will begin with a Eucharist in church at 10am, before catching the 10.46am train from Winchmore Hill, and aiming to return by 5.45pm. Please let Fr Daniel at [email protected] know if you would like to join.

“Follow me.”

What does a disciple look like? In our Said and Sung Eucharists on Sunday we hear the call of the Matthew. He was, as it happens, an unlikely choice. In Jesus’ time, tax-collectors were despised for being greedy and unethical. Yet it is Matthew who is called.

So we are reminded that Jesus does not call us because we are perfect. His grace can work through us - despite our failings, our past, and our imperfections. May we like Matthew hear his call, “Follow me.”

Prayer ministry is available this Sunday after the 10.30am Sung Eucharist.

A triumph of a St Paul’s Trust Quiz in the church hall last night. The Trust does an amazing job supporting the work of the parish. Thank you to the trustees for organising a great evening, and to everyone who came.

On this day in 1828 St Paul’s was consecrated by the Bishop of London, William Howley, as a chapel-of-ease to All Saints, Edmonton. So today we give thanks for 198 years of Christian worship in this building, and pray for the living stones which make up the community of faith here.

Make sure 2 June 2028 is in your diary. It’s going to be a big one!

This Sunday we celebrate the holy and undivided Trinity: God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The idea of the Trinity can sometimes feel remote and beyond our reach. But the mystery we celebrate is the exact opposite. We are called to participate in the life of the triune God, and to be transformed by this divine unity.

Over the two Sundays of half-term there is no Sunday School at the 10.30am Sung Eucharist. Children are welcome at all our of services, and there are activity bags for smaller children at 10.30am. Sunday School returns on Sunday 7 June.
