We're having a special focus on healing this Sunday morning. Doesn't matter what your illness is, and you don't have to tell anyone the details. Our vicar, Joshua, explains here what it will look like.

At Holy Trinity, Ponsonby Road, SW15 4LA on Sunday 30 August from 10am till 11am.

London is classed as an urban forest according to the United Nations - its public land has 21% tree cover. Looking at this drone footage shot by Antonio Mendoza you can see that a lot of those trees are in leafy SW15.

Does this sofa have your name on it? If the temperature is getting too much, you might be interested to know that the church is a good 8° cooler. Come and sit, scroll, read or just think. The church is open all day until 5:30pm.

Several people have commented recently that it's good to see the church being maintained. Well here's a little film that shows maintenance in action. After the rain last night, it became apparent that the flat roof was flooded, so Joshua went up the ladder and you can see what happened. Do stay till the end as there's a bit of drama that no-one was expecting.

For all those budding singing superstars - come to the choir club today at 3.30pm.

The church was built in 1896, and in the past couple of years the spire had started to show its age. There was a wobbly (but thankfully still safe) pinnacle and also a significant pigeon problem. The stone spire that towers over Roehampton has 12 windows which had last had grilles added about 50 years ago. Since then the grilles had rusted away to almost nothing, leaving a beautifully appointed pigeon hotel with enviable views - you can see some of them in the pictures attached to this post.

The biggest part of the problem was pigeon droppings. The new bells were safe from pigeon poo as there is a floor between the spire and the bells with a ‘poo chute’ which diverted droppings into a bin. But it all needed sorting out.

After securing grants from Marshall’s Charity and The Diocese of Southwark, a local scaffolding company was engaged to build a scaffold tower inside the spire. Then Nick, our steeple keeper (and an engineer by profession), designed safety ropes and installed stainless steel mesh on the 12 windows. While up there, the wobbly pinnacle was stabilised by a professional stonework company.

With huge thanks to our funders whose grants made this work possible. http://www.marshalls.org.uk/
