About the speakers:
Iqbal Nasim
Since November 2011, Iqbal Nasim has been running the National Zakat Foundation, a charity that seeks to provide the UK Muslim community with an end-to-end Zakat service, from awareness and education to collecting and distributing funds within the UK.
Iqbal holds an MA in Economics & Management from Cambridge University, where he served as President of the Islamic Society, won the national Muslim Student of the Year award and was a founding member of the Oxbridge Muslim Alumni. Prior to joining the National Zakat Foundation, Iqbal worked for over five years in the investment banking industry as an equity research analyst in the City of London.
Imam Mohammed Abid Khan
Imam Abid heads up the London team at 1st Ethical Charitable Trust and spearheads the delivery of their various campaigns to large mosques, Muslim faith schools and ISoc’s based within the capital. Abid, has had the privilege of studying under several notable scholars in the UK. In his spare time Abid is actively involved with youth work projects, and is also a teacher of Arabic language and Islamic studies. Abid graduated with a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Physics (Hons.) and is currently studying for his Masters in Tissue Engineering at the University of London. He resides in London, serving as a part-time Imam in Harrow.
