A joyful celebration of the Lord’s Day here this morning, and wonderful to welcome so many visitors.

Good progress with our floor restoration- hopefully only one more week of work to be completed.

Our next public act of worship will be on Sunday 13 September at 11.00am, when we’ll observe the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

‘Let us all rejoice in the Lord, as we celebrate the feast day in honour of the Virgin Mary, at whose Assumption the Angels rejoice and praise the Son of God.’

A joyous celebration for Our Lady’s Assumption today. A warm welcome and our grateful thanks to Fr Paschal Worton for being with us today to concelebrate.

We look forward to gathering together for worship tomorrow at 11.00am on the Lord’s Day for the Parish Mass, when in our Gospel Reading we will hear the familiar story of Christ’s feeding of the five thousand.

The first week of our major floor restoration project has been a great success, and our thanks to the team who have been here each day working very hard.

A warning that tomorrow entry and exit from church will be via the door in the garden; and that inside the church is extremely dusty, so perhaps not a day for the smartest, newest designer clothes! Please take great care moving around the church, as there is a lot of equipment in situ!

Public worship continues on Sundays at 11.00am during the restoration.

Preparations well under way for tonight's Vigil of Prayer at 7.00pm.

All are welcome, and will have an opportunity during the course of the service to light a candle and to pray for Jamal's soul, as well as for peace and safety on the streets of our parish and community.

Also, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Birth of St John the Baptist today with a Mass at 12 noon.

Our prayers today at Mass for the soul of Jamal Coombes (aged 17), who has been named as the victim of the fatal stabbing in Glycena Road early on Saturday morning.

A boy and a girl (both 15) have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Our continued prayers for Jamal's grieving friends and family, for safety on our streets, and for those carrying out the police investigation.

Jamal Coombes was found fatally injured near Lavender Hill, Battersea, on Saturday morning.

Our prayers continue for all involved in this investigation - especially for the repose of the soul of the 17-year-old boy who has lost his life in a brutal knife attack less than two minutes’ walk from our church.

The 17-year-old was found fatally injured near Lavender Hill in the early hours of Saturday.
