(226)

Receiving 700,000 visitors each year, Brompton Cemetery is managed by The Royal Parks. This green oasis is one of the Magnificent Seven Victorian cemeteries created in a ring around London in response to the great cholera epidemics of the 1830s. Located in a densely populated area of South-West London, Brompton continues as a working cemetery today, with Grade I listed heritage status and as a Sit

e of Nature Conservation Importance. Prominent personalities buried at Brompton include suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst, pugilist Gentleman John Jackson and cricket champion John Wisden. Their resting places range from simple gravestones to stunning mausoleums. The Royal Parks is developing a second round application to Heritage Lottery and Big Lottery Funds for this £5 million Brompton Cemetery Conservation Project: http://www.royalparks.org.uk/parks/brompton-cemetery/brompton-cemetery-conservation-project

📢 We are on the hunt for two young conservationists who recently visited Brompton Cemetery.

On the morning of Wednesday, 6 May, staff opened up the cemetery to find it awash with these wonderful posters 👀

Although we had to take them down we were so impressed by the amount of time and effort, not to mention the artistry and the message, that we felt it only right to display one in our noticeboards 🐞

Now we'd like to discover the identity of this talented duo so that we can offer them a nature walk of the cemetery 🌳

If you can help in anyway, then let us know 🔽

Join us at the Chapel on Easter Monday 6 April, when MaisonGB ( )hosts an afternoon of small bites and coffee as part of Gabriele Risso’s debut solo exhibition 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘐𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘦, at the Chapel of Brompton Cemetery.
risso

In 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘐𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘦, Risso presents a selection of sculptural works developed since 2024. The exhibition considers how sculpture gives presence to space, and how ordinary objects, approached through measurement and making, can open onto broader questions of perception, representation, and convention. The exhibition is curated by Catherine Li, FoBC Chapel Curator

MaisonGB responds to Risso’s still life works by translating elements of the exhibition into an edible experience. To mark Easter Monday, chocolate will be one of the ingredients, alongside fruit and savoury options. Due to the nature of the event, we are unable to accommodate dietary requirements.
