Step into a world of shadow, suspense, and soaring sound at an unforgettable Silent Film Night in the stunning surroundings of St Lawrence Jewry. This special event brings the 1925 cinematic masterpiece 'The Phantom of the Opera' back to life.

On Wednesday 28th October 2026, as darkness falls over the City of London, the historic Guild Church will set the stage for an evening of gothic drama and atmospheric storytelling. The film, featuring the haunting performance by Lon Chaney, will be accompanied live on the church’s renowned Klais organ (celebrating it's 25th year), filling the space with a powerful, immersive sound that transforms the screening into something truly extraordinary.

At the heart of the experience is the celebrated and international award winning organist Aaron Hawthorne, whose masterful performance will breathe new life into every flicker of the film. From delicate, suspenseful notes to thunderous crescendos, the music will mirror every twist of the Phantom’s tale, drawing you deeper into the mystery, romance, and terror unfolding on the screen.

Guests can expect more than just a film screening. This is a fully immersive experience: the beauty and grandeur of this historic church, the visual artistry of silent cinema, and the raw emotional power of live music combining in perfect harmony. Arrive early for a good seat as the doors open at 6:15pm to soak in the atmosphere, take in the architecture, and settle into your seat with a drink from the bar before the performance begins at 7pm.

Whether you’re a lover of classic cinema, a fan of live music, or simply looking for a unique and memorable night out, this event offers something truly special. It’s a rare chance to experience silent film as it was meant to be seen; alive, thrilling, and captivating.

All are warmly invited to keep Maundy Thursday with us here in the heart of the City at St Lawrence Jewry.

On this holy evening, we enter the mystery of the Last Supper, the gift of the Eucharist, and Christ’s commandment to love one another. Our liturgy, which is enhanced by our professional choir, will be prayerful and richly symbolic, and will draw us into the quiet intensity of the Upper Room.
As the altar is stripped and the church falls into stillness, we are invited to rest in the shadow of the cross, holding in prayer a world in need of compassion, mercy, and grace.

Whether you are a regular worshipper or simply seeking a place to reflect this Holy Week, you will find a welcome here at St Lawrence Jewry.

(The service will last approximately 45mins)

Wishing all our friends and followers a very Happy Palm Sunday.

Today, we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, greeted with palm branches and shouts of “Hosanna.” It is a moment of joy and hope, but also the beginning of Holy Week and a journey that leads us, with Christ, through a journey reflection and sacrifice, and on to the promise of Easter.

We mark this sacred time with prayer and thoughtful worship which all are warmly welcome to join us for, as we walk this path together in love and faith.
