Our foundation scripture, Proverbs 16:1 says “People might plan what they want to say, but it is the Lord who gives them the right words.(‬ERV‬‬)‬
It is our responsibility to prepare, why, because we are Gods children and God loves preparation. We must expect all God says in His word to come true and be ready to receive. Doesn’t matter what problems we go through, everyone has issues they have to deal with. “I have told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have troubles. But be brave! I have defeated the world!”
John‬ 16:33‬ ERV‬‬‬‬‬‬
From today you will be an overcomer, you will overcome lack, shame, disappointment because your time has come. Miracles you have been waiting for will happen now in Jesus’ name. “It is through him that we are able to live, to do what we do, and to be who we are. As your own poets have said, ‘We all come from him.’”
Acts‬ 17:28‬ ERV‬‬‬‬‬‬
We need to be confident in God, because we come from Him, not confident in humans, family, the economy, only God. Suffering is not where you arrive, but maybe you experience pain on the way then blessings at the end. Same with Joseph, he had many problems, his brother wanted to kill him, they sold him. In the end he became prime minister of Egypt.
Nothing is late for God, remember the story of Lazarus, he died and was buried. Jesus arrived four days later, then people say you arrived too late, he’s already dead and buried. Then Jesus did miracle to prove He is the God of impossible and raised Lazarus from the dead. Life was restored (means come back) to Lazarus, same with your finances, joy and favour will be restored back to you in Jesus name. Everyone has enemies, maybe you don’t know them all but you have some. Thank God that your time has come and you get to greatness in Jesus’ name. When your time has come, you should pray more than ever before, why, that is when your enemies will try hard to bring you down. God sends His angels to fight for us and give us breakthrough. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says pray without stopping, when your time comes you must become strong by praying. The more you pray, the less you will sin.
Each person has a fridge in heaven, every time we cry and pray to God, he puts it in our fridge. So God can answer a prayer you made maybe when you were younger, because He heard your prayer, it was in your fridge. But now your time has come, he will answer your prayers!

You Are Righteous In Christ

Our foundation scripture is Philipians 3:2-9 and t reveals five truths
1. Our salvation is not by what we do and our efforts, it is by faith
2. Pleasing God is not done by our self efforts and works
3. Our confidence is not because of our efforts
4. We are righteous because of the faith in what Christ has done, not because of obeying the law
5. Our efforts are nothing compared to what Christ done

“There were some people who thought they were very good and looked down on everyone else. Jesus used this story to teach them: “One time there was a Pharisee and a tax collector. One day they both went to the Temple to pray. The Pharisee stood alone, away from the tax collector. When the Pharisee prayed, he said, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not as bad as other people. I am not like men who steal, cheat, or commit adultery. I thank you that I am better than this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I give a tenth of everything I get!’ “The tax collector stood alone too. But when he prayed, he would not even look up to heaven. He felt very humble before God. He said, ‘O God, have mercy on me. I am a sinner!’ I tell you, when this man finished his prayer and went home, he was right with God. But the Pharisee, who felt that he was better than others, was not right with God. People who make themselves important will be made humble. But those who make themselves humble will be made important.”
Luke‬ 18:9-14‬ ERV‬‬
When you are humble and know you cannot do things without Christ is when He will lift you up.
“But God has a way to make people right, and it has nothing to do with the law. He has now shown us that new way, which the law and the prophets told us about. God makes people right through their faith in Jesus Christ. He does this for all who believe in Christ. Everyone is the same. All have sinned and are not good enough to share God’s divine greatness. They are made right with God by his grace. This is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ. God gave Jesus as a way to forgive people’s sins through their faith in him. God can forgive them because the blood sacrifice of Jesus pays for their sins. God gave Jesus to show that he always does what is right and fair. He was right in the past when he was patient and did not punish people for their sins. And in our own time he still does what is right. God worked all this out in a way that allows him to judge people fairly and still make right any person who has faith in Jesus.

So do we have any reason to boast about ourselves? No reason at all. And why not? Because we are depending on the way of faith, not on what we have done in following the law. I mean we are made right with God through faith, not through what we have done to follow the law. This is what we believe.”
Romans‬ 3:21-28‬ ERV‬‬
God being a judge allows Him to forgive us for our sins and call us righteous. When we believe God it means we have obeyed Him so we will enjoy the good things He has given to us. Deuteronomy 28:1-15 tells us the blessings we receive when we obey God.
““Now, if you will be careful to obey the Lord your God and follow all his commands that I tell you today, the Lord your God will put you high above all the nations on earth. If you will obey the Lord your God, all these blessings will come to you and be yours: “He will bless you in the city and in the field. He will bless you and give you many children. He will bless your land and give you good crops. He will bless your animals and let them have many babies. He will bless you with calves and lambs. He will bless your baskets and pans and fill them with food. He will bless you at all times in everything you do. “The Lord will help you defeat your enemies who come to fight against you. Your enemies will come against you one way, but they will run away from you seven different ways! “The Lord will bless you and fill your barns. He will bless everything you do. The Lord your God will bless you in the land that he is giving you. If you follow the Lord your God and obey his commands, he will do what he promised. The Lord will make you his own special people. Then all the people in that land will see that you are called to be the Lord ’S people, and they will be afraid of you. “And the Lord will give you many good things. He will give you many children. He will give your cows many calves. He will give you a good harvest in the land that the Lord promised your ancestors to give you. The Lord will open his storehouse where he keeps his rich blessings. He will send rain at the right time for your land. He will bless everything you do. You will have money to lend to many nations. And you will not need to borrow anything from them. The Lord will make you be like the head, not the tail. You will be on top, not on the bottom. This will happen if you listen to the commands of the Lord your God that I tell you today. You must carefully obey these commands. You must not turn away from any of the teachings that I give you today. You must not turn away to the right or to the left. You must not follow other gods to serve them.”
We are the righteousness of God because of what Jesus done for us. We can enjoy His blessings when we believe in His finished works.

EXPERIENCING REAL LIFE TRANSFORMATION

FROM GLORY TO GLORY

Michael

7/3/2016

FROM GLORY TO GLORY

“The old agreement that brought death, written with words on stone, came with God’s glory. In fact, the face of Moses was so bright with glory (a glory that was ending) that the people of Israel could not continue looking at his face. So surely the new agreement that comes from the life-giving Spirit has even more glory. This is what I mean: That old agreement judged people guilty of sin, but it had glory. So surely the new agreement that makes people right with God has much greater glory. That old agreement had glory. But it really loses its glory when it is compared to the much greater glory of the new agreement. If the agreement that was brought to an end came with glory, then the agreement that never ends has much greater glory. We are so sure of this hope that we can speak very openly. We are not like Moses, who put a covering over his face. He covered his face so that the people of Israel would not see it. The glory was disappearing, and Moses did not want them to see it end. But their minds were closed. And even today, when those people read the writings of the old agreement, that same covering hides the meaning. That covering has not been removed for them. It is taken away only through Christ. Yes, even today, when they read the Law of Moses, there is a covering over their minds. But when someone changes and follows the Lord, that covering is taken away. The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And our faces are not covered. We all show the Lord’s glory, and we are being changed to be like him. This change in us brings more and more glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:7-18 ERV

The Bible says our veil – means something covering the face, is gone because of Jesus. Now we have access to the presence of God
Moses had a veil, why, when he went on the mountain to speak to God and get 10 commandments, the presence of the Lord made his face bright so he had to cover it when talking to people living in Israel, Israelites.
Stay focused in the word of God, give God your attention. The Eternal Word (Gen 1:1-2:3)
We become like Christ, Why?

1. To be caring, strong, loving and to be a winner like God. Ephesians 4:11-16

2.Change mind to new way of thinking, same as God.
Romans 12:2 Read Bible more, makes thinking change to same as God.

3. Let everyone know about Christ, if you behave like Jesus, people in the world will see and want to copy.

Salvation

All we own is connected to our salvation in Christ. Psalm 68:19-20 says: “Praise the Lord! Every day he helps us with the loads we must carry. He is the God who saves us. He is our God, the God who saves us. My Lord GOD saves us from death.” People in church don’t really understand what salvation is. Many Christians pick one part of salvation instead of the whole package God gave us. If we only believe a part of salvation we will only receive a part in our lives.

The bible says our salvation is forever. Hebrews 5:9 says: “This made him the perfect high priest, who provides the way for everyone who obeys him to be saved forever.”
Jesus allows us to have a personal relationship with God, because He died for our sins, which , means all our sins are forgiven and we become Gods children. Knowing the relationship you and God have is the foundation means- the start of where our salvation is built. Same as a making a building, you have to start from the bottom with cement and bricks before you start putting windows and doors in. This is how some Christians live, they have the foundation of salvation but are not having all the benefits and blessings.

Hebrews 6:9 also adds that there are more things possible with salvation: “Dear friends, I am not saying this because I think it is happening to you. We really expect that you will do better—that you will do the good things that will result in your salvation.”
When us, Christians understand this then we can access the full package we have in Christ. Healing, success and control are all part of the blessings of salvation that as Christians God has given us to enjoy. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says: : “You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know that he gave up his heavenly riches for you. He gave up everything so that you could be richly blessed.” Everything we need in life, we can have because Of what Jesus did for us on the cross, died.

In the Old Testament, physical and material blessings are more important, things we can see. For example, Abraham enjoyed the blessings of God because of his relationship with God. Here is Genesis 17:1 “When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him. He said, “I am God All-Powerful. Obey me and live the right way.”
The material blessings that Abraham enjoyed were because he had a good foundation. But the New Testament is different, Jesus said what he came to earth to do, John 10:10, saying: “A thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But I came to give life—life that is full and good.”

On the cross, when Jesus died, the blood that came from different parts of His body meant different things for our salvation.

The crown of thorns that they put on Jesus’ head means the blood that came from his head took away all the curses for us and put blessings. That’s why when Pastors pray, they put their hand on your head to bless you. Galatians 3:13 says “The law says we are under a curse for not always obeying it. But Christ took away that curse. He changed places with us and put himself under that curse. The Scriptures say, “Anyone who is hung on a tree is under a curse.”

When Jesus was stripped, beaten on his back and blood came out, this was for our healing. Isaiah 53:5 says: “But he was being punished for what we did. He was crushed because of our guilt. He took the punishment we deserved, and this brought us peace. We were healed because of his pain.” As Christians, we own healing because Christ has already paid the price for it. I have seen different healing, God still heals today. God doesn’t just care about our spirit, but he cares about our soul and body. Salvation is forgiveness, healing, freedom from sin and success .In Christ, nothing is broken or missing, everything is complete. Here is how Psalm 138:8 says: “Lord, I know you will do what you have promised. Lord, your faithful love will last forever. You are the one who made us, so don’t leave us!”

When they put nails through Jesus’ hands on the cross that was for us to be rich, because we work with our hands to make money. Example, interpreter – sign with their hands which is their job and gives them money. Psalm 90:17 says: “Lord, our God, be kind to us. Make everything we do successful. Yes, make it all successful.”
This affects people in Africa more, why, there is more poverty- means poor people. When I started teaching people about salvation, that Jesus already gave us success and money then people started to change and accept these blessings. Jesus’ feet were pierced with nails too, for us to have dominion – means control.

In Matthew 6:33 reads: “What you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need.” This scripture shows the foundation of salvation starts with our relationship with Christ. God’s promise is shown in Romans 8:32, which says: “He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for all of us. So now with Jesus, God will surely give us all things.”

In church we tell people to ask God to forgive our sins because it is very important! But because of salvation our sins have already been forgiven.
3 John 2 says: “My dear friend, I know that you are doing well spiritually. So I pray that everything else is going well with you and that you are enjoying good health.”
We will be successful if we believe the blessings God has given us. King David was an example of someone who knew the blessings God gave him. In Psalm 103:1-5 he said: “My soul, praise the Lord! Every part of me, praise his holy name! My soul, praise the Lord and never forget how kind he is! He forgives all our sins and heals all our sicknesses. He saves us from the grave, and he gives us love and compassion. He gives us plenty of good things. He makes us young again, like an eagle that grows new feathers.”
We must remember that the promise God made with Abraham is for us too and access the whole of salvation not just a small part!

NEW WINE CHURCH
DON’T QUIT, YOU ARE A FINISHER
MEN SHOULD PRAY ALWAYS

Michael Olaware
6/19/2016

MEN ALWAYS OUGHT TO PRAY

Today we celebrate fathers around the world.

• Thanks to all the fathers in church; and those in the position of fatherhood

• I am here today to celebrate your fatherhood and your importance

• I am here today to celebrate your different skills

• I am here today to celebrate you being special

• God chose you to control your household, community and the world for God.

INTRODUCTION

• We have been looking at the series titled Protocol for Effective Prayer ( How to pray effectively)

• Today, we will finish that series and start something new

• Topic … Don’t quit, you are a finisher.

Luke 18: 1- 8.

Woman whose husband died that doesn’t give up
“Then Jesus taught the followers that they should always pray and never lose hope. He used this story to teach them: “Once there was a judge in a town. He did not care about God. He also did not care what people thought about him. In that same town there was a woman whose husband had died. She came many times to this judge and said, ‘There is a man who is doing bad things to me. Give me my rights!’ But the judge did not want to help the woman. After a long time, the judge thought to himself, ‘I don’t care about God. And I don’t care about what people think. But this woman is bothering me. If I give her what she wants, then she will leave me alone. But if I don’t give her what she wants, she will bother me until I am sick.’” The Lord said, “Listen, there is meaning in what the bad judge said. God’s people shout to him night and day, and he will always give them what is right. He will not be slow to answer them. I tell you, God will help his people quickly. But when the Son of Man comes again, will he find people on earth who believe in him?””
Luke 18:1-8 ERV

INTRODUCTION

• This story encourages disciples to trust God because God has chosen to answer their prayers of faith

• Jesus told the story to find out God’s character to answer our prayers.

• If the unfair judge could answer the widow, then God can answer our prayers

• Need to understand how much God loves us

• God loves us so much, He will never say no to our prayers.

EXERGESIS

• Luke1:18 caught my attention.

• 18: 1 Then He spoke to them, that men should always pray and not lose heart,

• It is important that you are not a quitter; you are a finisher

• You were made to finish your race; and pass on the baton to the next generation

• You were not designed to give up

It doesn’t matter what the situation is, you were made to achieve; and succeed

Jesus was speaking to the disciples in Luke 18; He said men should always pray and not be tired

This statement in verse 1 is a statement of responsibility

Jesus gave the disciples big responsibility

He encouraged men not to give up no matter what the problem is

The statement “men should always pray and not lose heart”…is for men to recognise seven points that I would like to share with the fathers today

1. It is a call to spiritual aware

• The statement men should always pray and not be tired
• It is a call to have a closer relationship with God

• It is a call to hunger for God

• It is a call to pray to God

• It is a call to give your life to God

• It is a call to serving God

• It is a call to understand the purpose of God

• It is a call to make men the head of family again

• Over the years, men have taken back seat at home, in the house of God and in the community

• It is a call to develop good and improving relationship with the Lord

• This is the time for men to seek the Lord with all their heart

• This is the time for fathers to pray to God for their families, for their wives, for their children and for their communities

• This is the time for fathers to fight spiritual battles for their families

God spoke about Abraham
“Then the men got up to leave. They looked toward S***m and began walking in that direction. Abraham walked with them to send them on their way. The Lord said to himself, “Should I tell Abraham what I am going to do now? Abraham will become a great and powerful nation, and all the nations on earth will be blessed because of him. I have made a special agreement with him. I did this so that he would command his children and his descendants to live the way the Lord wants them to. I did this so that they would live right and be fair. Then I, the Lord, can give him what I promised.” Then the Lord said, “I have heard many times that the people of S***m and Gomorrah are very evil.”
Genesis 18:16-20 ERV
• God spoke about Abraham … I have known him.

• That word know means intimacy; God speaks about intimacy between Himself and Abraham

• God said Abraham will command or train his family to follow the Lord

2. It is a call to take your place

Luke 18: 1
Then He spoke a parable to them, that men should always pray and not lose heart,

• You have a place in your home
• You have a place in church (Gods house)
• You have a place in your walk with God
• You have a place in the society
• You have a place in the nation
• You were created to shine; you were created to make a difference
• The scripture says let your light so shine …
• In Isaiah 60: 1 the scripture says arise and shine …
God asked Adam … where are you?
Genesis 3:9
9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?" NKJV

When Adam left his place of assignment; when he left his place of responsibility; when he left his place of authority …Enemy took advantage and crept in

Today, fathers, know you have a place! Take your place

Gideon the mighty man of valour was hiding in the winepress; he was meant to fight the Midianite but he hid away.

Judges 6:11-14

“One time the angel of the Lord came to a place called Ophrah and sat under an oak tree. This oak tree belonged to a man named Joash from the Abiezer family. His son Gideon was beating some wheat in a winepress. He was hiding so that the Midianites could not see the wheat. The angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and said, “The Lord be with you, brave soldier.”

Then Gideon said, “Pardon me, sir, but if the Lord is with us, why are we having so many troubles? We heard that he did wonderful things for our ancestors. They tell us that the Lord took them out of Egypt. But now it seems the Lord has left us and is letting the Midianites defeat us.” The Lord turned toward Gideon and said, “Then use your great power and go save the Israelites from the Midianites. I am sending you to save them.””
Judges 6:11-14 ERV
• He was a mighty man and brave; made to save Israel but he was hiding away

• He was called to fight for the nation but he hid away

• We need men; we need fathers who understand they need to stop hiding

• We need men; we need fathers who see they have a place

• You have a place; and I challenge you to take your place.

• We need men; we need fathers who take their place at home, in church, in the community and in the nation

• You are a king, you are a priest and you are a prophet over your home

Gen 49:1
49 Then Jacob called together all his sons and said, "Gather around me, and I will tell you what will happen to each of you in the days to come.NLT

3. It is a call to find important things

• This is to know Gods purpose for your life

Matt 6:33
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. NKJV

• Men, you must make God most important

• Men, you must do things with good reason

• Men, you must be purpose driven

• Men, you must have a vision

• It is your vision shows whats important, keep you focused to put God first

Luke 18:1-2
18 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,
NKJV

Col 3:1-3
“You were raised from death with Christ. So live for what is in heaven, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Think only about what is up there, not what is here on earth. Your old self has died, and your new life is kept with Christ in God.”
Colossians 3:1-3 ERV

• You were made to be an impact; and this starts with making God most important

4. It is a call to take action
• The statement “men should always pray” is a call to be alert and ready to fight for yours and your families future
1 Peter 5:8-9
“Control yourselves and be careful! The devil is your enemy, and he goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to attack and eat. Refuse to follow the devil. Stand strong in your faith. You know that your brothers and sisters all over the world are having the same sufferings that you have.”
1 Peter 5:8-9 ERV

1 Cor 16:13-14
“Be careful. Hold firmly to your faith. Have courage and be strong. Do everything in love.”
1 Corinthians 16:13-14 ERV
5. It is a call to take responsibility
• As fathers we have to take responsibility for our children, wives, family, life…
1 Chron 15:22
22 Kenaniah the head Levite was in charge of the singing; that was his responsibility because he was skilful at it. NIV

• God gave you responsibility based on His grace on your life, equal to what you can do. He will not give you responsibilities that is more than your strength

• You are responsible for directing your family, teaching your children the word of God and building a close relationship with God
6. It is a call to be brave

• Always know you have won the battle, even through bad times, hold on to Gods promises in the Bible. Even when there is no evidence just keep believing His promised. Don’t give up on Gods work or your family, children and yourself

Ps 33:20
20 We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. NIV

Mic 7:7
7 As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. NLT

Rom 4:18-19
“There was no hope that Abraham would have children, but Abraham believed God and continued to hope. And that is why he became the father of many nations. As God told him, “You will have many descendants.” Abraham was almost a hundred years old, so he was past the age for having children. Also, Sarah could not have children. Abraham was well aware of this, but his faith in God never became weak.”

Romans 4:18-19 ERV
7. It is a call to stay the course and finish your race
• You are on a job, your job is to finish the race and finish it well
