It’s been a fantastic first day exploring different aspects of climate change and resilience at our online symposium. Over 300 people participating from 63 different countries. We heard the powerful voices of young people, theologians, practitioners and the General. It’s not too late to register for Day 2 and Day 3

Our Community Development Lead has just come back from Brazil where she was able to visit four centres run by the Brazil Territory which care for vulnerable children and their families living in challenging communities. The centres run a programme which invests in families over the long term and which hopes to break the cycles of poverty and violence for the next generation by strengthening family and community bonds and giving children and young people the opportunity to be the protagonist of their own lives.

One of the International Development Services team members attended a symposium in Jordan last week organised by the Royal Academy of Engineering. The symposium explored the water-energy-food-environment nexus for climate resilient and inclusive futures. It brought together a group from over 20 countries who are all future leaders in their fields from academics to innovators and practitioners with the idea of bringing them together to find new ways to solve complex global challenges by promoting collaboration and interdisciplinary thinking. It was a great forum for the The Salvation Army to be represented within and many participants were interested to hear about our diverse work in so many countries around the world.

We were pleased to host a cross-organisation meeting yesterday at The Salvation Army International Headquarters.

Bond, the Joint Learning Initiative on Faith & Local Communities, Tearfund and World Vision UK facilitated a conversation around faith and disaster risk reduction. We were pleased to welcome John Twigg who presented his recent report for Tearfund, 'With you in the storm', as well as online panellists from Japan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Pakistan.

This hybrid event attracted many people from around the world who are involved in the conversation around faith and DRR.
