For many generations, God’s people had waited for the promised Messiah. The prophets had spoken of one who would bring hope, light, and salvation. The time had now come for those promises to begin to be fulfilled.

An angel appeared to Mary with an unexpected message. She would give birth to a son who would be called the Son of God. Though the news brought questions, Mary chose to trust in God’s word.

Joseph also received reassurance that this child was part of God’s purpose. Together they travelled to Bethlehem, where the child Jesus was born.

Angels announced the news to shepherds watching their flocks by night. Later, wise men from the east followed a star that led them to the child, recognising that a king had been born.

Though many did not yet understand the significance of these events, God’s plan was quietly unfolding. The promised Saviour had come into the world, bringing hope that would extend far beyond that moment in time.

This part of the Bible marks the beginning of the life of Jesus, through whom God’s purpose would be revealed more fully.
