🌿 Flower Feature: Purple Toadflax🌿

Adding height and soft movement to our planting areas, these elegant blooms are Purple Toadflax (Linaria purpurea) 💜

Recognised by their tall, upright stems and clusters of small, delicate, snapdragon-like flowers, purple toadflax brings a light, airy feel as it weaves naturally through surrounding plants 🌾

A firm favourite with wildlife, these flowers provide a valuable source of nectar for bees and other pollinators throughout the summer months 🐝

As with many of the flowers across our site, these have self-seeded over time, gradually spreading and establishing themselves in different areas. Purple toadflax is particularly good at doing this, creating natural drifts that enhance the relaxed, meadow-style feel of the grounds 🌱

Its ability to thrive with minimal intervention makes it an important part of supporting biodiversity, while adding colour and structure to the landscape year after year 🌿

Keep an eye out as you explore-these vibrant purple spikes often appear in new spots, adding something a little different each season 💚

Meet the team

Emily - Burial ground consultant

I am a Burial Ground Consultant, bringing experience in client care and supporting positive client experiences.

I particularly enjoy my time at Hinton Park Woodland Burial Ground, where no two days are ever the same, which makes the role both engaging and rewarding.

Outside of work, I love walking and really value the peace and beauty of the countryside.

🌸 Flower Feature: Foxgloves 🌸

Adding a splash of colour to our grounds, the striking Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) is now in bloom 💕

Recognisable by their tall spikes of tubular, bell-shaped flowers, foxgloves are a much-loved wildflower in the UK. Their vivid pink blooms are not only beautiful but also incredibly important for wildlife, especially bees, who are perfectly adapted to climb inside the flowers to reach the nectar 🐝

Foxgloves are biennial plants, meaning they typically grow leaves in their first year and flower in their second. Once they have bloomed, they produce thousands of tiny seeds, allowing them to self-seed and spread naturally across our grounds. This has created the wonderful pockets of colour you can now spot appearing year after year 🌱

These elegant wildflowers thrive in lightly shaded areas and woodland edges, making them perfectly suited to our landscape, where they continue to establish themselves with very little intervention 🌿

📍 A gentle note: while foxgloves are beautiful, they are also toxic if ingested, so please admire them without picking.

Take a moment to enjoy these tall, graceful blooms on your next visit 💚

We were truly honoured to support the family at Hinton Park Woodland Burial Ground for the funeral of George Farwell, a much-loved and highly respected member of the New Forest community.

As reported in the Advertiser & Times, George’s final journey was marked by an incredible procession of heavy plant vehicles travelling through the town, a powerful tribute to a lifetime dedicated to his industry and local area.

George founded G. Farwell Ltd, building the company from humble beginnings into a well-known and trusted local business, providing haulage, plant hire, aggregates and groundworks services across the New Forest. His dedication and hard work left a lasting legacy, not only through the company but through the many people whose lives he touched.

His funeral was filled with thoughtful, personal touches that truly reflected his life. The use of his own lorry created a unique and fitting final journey, while our conductor, Graeme, paid tribute by wearing hi-vis and a hard hat, a meaningful gesture that honoured George’s working life and resonated with those in attendance.

Surrounded by family, friends and colleagues, it was clear how much respect and admiration there was for George and all he achieved.

It was a privilege for our team to be part of such a special and memorable farewell. Our thoughts remain with the family at this difficult time.

✨ Moments of Stillness ✨

When was the last time everything felt... still?

We often move from one thing to the next without stopping, always rushing, always doing.

But in the quiet moments, something powerful happens.

We reset. We breathe. We process.

Even a few minutes of stillness can help bring your balance back.

💭 Today, give yourself permission to pause. You deserve it.

Where Memories Bloom 🌿💙

Beneath the trees, a quiet carpet of forget-me-nots gently blooms, small flowers carrying a powerful message: you are never forgotten.

In the stillness of the woodland, these delicate blue flowers create a space where memories feel close, and love continues in the softest, most natural way.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things, like a field of tiny flowers, that say the most.

💬 What small moments or sights bring you comfort when you visit?

Meet the team

Jo - Funeral & Memorial consultant

I have always had a deep passion for supporting and meeting people in their time of need. You only get one chance to deliver a funeral, and I find it a real honour to take time with a family to get to know their loved one and to support them to deliver a fitting celebration in their memory.

My aim is to take as much of the stress out of arranging a funeral for the family as possible, whilst being empathetic to the grief they are living with.

"Grief is like glitter, even months and years later you will still find it tucked in corners. It will always be there, somewhere."

I am a devoted Mum and Wife. In my spare time, I love nothing better than spending time with my family, walking by the sea and singing in a local choir.

Mammals of Hinton Park 🐾🌿

Did you know a whole community of mammals is thriving quietly at Hinton Park? From tiny ground dwellers to night-flying species, the site provides an important refuge for wildlife.

Here’s what’s been discovered 👇

🐭 Wood mice - recorded across the site; excellent climbers that forage for seeds and insects, often using log piles and woodland edges for shelter.

🦇 Bats - including common and soprano pipistrelles, these small bats can eat thousands of insects in a single night, helping control pests.

🌳 Grey squirrels - frequently seen in the trees, known for burying food stores (like acorns), helping to naturally plant new trees.

🦔 Hedgehogs - nocturnal mammals that can travel over a mile a night in search of food and are an important indicator of healthy green spaces.

🦌 Deer - often spotted in surrounding areas; graceful browsers that feed on leaves and shoots, moving quietly through woodland habitats.

🌿 Why it matters: The mix of woodland, grassland and scrub provides ideal shelter, feeding grounds and movement routes for a range of mammal species.

A special place where nature continues to flourish alongside memory and reflection ✨

🌼 Flower Feature: Oxeye Daisies 🌼

Our grounds are currently dotted with the cheerful white blooms of Oxeye Daisies (Leucanthemum vulgare) - a classic wildflower known for its bright yellow centres and delicate white petals 🌿

These hardy perennials are a favourite in UK meadows, flowering from late spring through summer and providing an important source of nectar for pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hoverflies 🐝🦋

What makes this display even more special is that these daisies have self-seeded naturally across our grounds.
Over time, seeds have spread and established themselves, creating beautiful, informal drifts that bring a soft, wild feel to the landscape. This natural spread supports biodiversity while adding seasonal interest without the need for planting 🌱

Next time you visit, take a moment to enjoy these resilient little flowers and the way they’ve made themselves at home here 💚
