A Day of Glory, Gratitude and Divine Impact in Oroma-Etiti Anam
Sunday, June 7, 2026, will remain a memorable date in the history of the Diocese of Niger East, Oroma-Etiti Community, Anambra West, and indeed the entire Anam nation, as family, friends, church leaders, traditional rulers, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate two remarkable lives dedicated to God, humanity, and community development.
It was a day of thanksgiving, honour, and overwhelming testimonies as Chief Dr. Sir Godwin Ubaka Okeke marked his 77th birthday while his beloved wife, Lady Dr. Patricia Obiageli Okeke, celebrated her 72nd birthday amidst pomp, splendour, and deep appreciation to God for His faithfulness over the years.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Diocese of Niger East, was far more than a birthday celebration. It was a public testimony that service to God is not a venture for the weak, the poor, or the insignificant. Rather, it was a powerful reminder that God still raises men and women of substance who use their blessings to advance His kingdom and uplift society.
From the early hours of the day, All Saints Church Compound, Oroma-Etiti, wore a festive look as guests poured in from different parts of Anambra State and beyond. The atmosphere was filled with joy, worship, cultural displays, and heartfelt thanksgiving.
The presence of The Rt. Revd. Dr. Obiora Uzochukwu, Bishop of the Diocese of Niger East, added great spiritual significance to the occasion. In his remarks, the Bishop commended the celebrants for their unwavering commitment to God, the Church, and humanity. He described Chief Sir Godwin Ubaka Okeke and Lady Dr. Patricia Obiageli Okeke as shining examples of Christian stewardship, generosity, and service.
One of the major highlights of the celebration was the dedication of the newly built five-classroom block for Archbishop Onyemelukwe Grammar School, Oroma, a project proudly undertaken by G.U. Okeke and Sons. The magnificent structure stands today as a lasting legacy that will benefit generations of students and contribute immensely to educational development in the community.
As the event unfolded, it became evident that Oroma-Etiti had never witnessed such a gathering in recent times. The entire community came alive. Roads were busy. Homes welcomed visitors. Everywhere was filled with excitement and admiration for the celebrants whose contributions to society continue to speak louder than words.
In a remarkable display of respect and appreciation, traditional rulers from across Anam Kingdom graced the occasion. The gathering of Igwes was a powerful statement of honour and recognition for Chief Sir Godwin Ubaka Okeke, whose relationship with his people remains strong and enduring. Their presence underscored the deep impact he has made not only within the Church but also across the traditional and social fabric of Anam land.
The celebration was also marked by an outpouring of gifts and goodwill. The Diocese received generous support from the Okeke family and friends, while individuals, groups, organizations, and well-wishers from Niger East, Anam, and Anambra West presented gifts and tributes in appreciation of the celebrants' lives of service and generosity.
Adding another beautiful touch to the day was the birthday celebration of Lady Ada Chukwudozie, wife of Sir Daniel Chukwudozie (popularly known as Dozzy). In a heartwarming moment, a special birthday cake was cut in her honour alongside those of the principal celebrants, drawing loud applause and joyful cheers from the entire congregation.
Dozzy further demonstrated his powerful support to the diocese with a generous gesture that shook the whole place, leaving a memorable impact on everyone present.
Throughout the event, testimonies flowed freely. People spoke of lives touched, students sponsored, churches supported, communities transformed, and countless acts of kindness carried out quietly over the years by the celebrants. Many agreed that what was witnessed in Oroma-Etiti was not merely a birthday ceremony but a celebration of impact, legacy, and God's abundant blessings.
Indeed, words may never fully capture the beauty of the day. The songs of praise, the prayers of thanksgiving, the unity among God's people, the presence of distinguished guests, and the visible evidence of divine favour combined to create an atmosphere that will be remembered for many years.
As the sun set on a truly historic celebration, one message echoed from every corner of the gathering: God remains faithful, and a life dedicated to serving Him and humanity never goes unnoticed.
The Diocese of Niger East, under the leadership of The Rt. Revd. Dr. Obiora Uzochukwu, joined countless admirers in thanking God for the lives of Chief Dr. Sir Godwin Ubaka Okeke and Lady Dr. Patricia Obiageli Okeke, praying for continued health, wisdom, prosperity, and greater impact in the years ahead.
Without doubt, June 7, 2026, was not just another date on the calendar. It was a day when Oroma-Etiti, Anam, Anambra West, and the Diocese of Niger East witnessed a celebration of God's faithfulness, a legacy of service, and a future filled with even greater impact.
To God be all the glory. 🙏🏾✨
