Greeting to all!

The icon here is from a photo I took back in 2010 when I had the good fortune to visit Ukraine. This original Icon is actually created from 100’s of painted eggs that form the pixels of the image, a fascinating piece of artwork.

The present tensions at the Ukrainian Border is a cause of great concern and I invite you all to keep the people of Ukraine and the region close in prayer.

Another request I make is for all the staff of all schools. I have had the opportunity to speak at a recent in-service day for school staff and it is striking that they are carrying many strains over this past school term, compounded of course by the heavy effects of the pandemic pressures and restrictions. They too need our prayers and support.

Let us be compassionate and gentle with ourselves and one another!

Greeting to all!

Life here at DMH is beginning to show signs of coming to life again after such a long dormant period because of the pandemic.

Different groups are booked in for a variety of creative and wholesome interests; Art and Friendship, parish groups on day retreat, prayer vigils, organisations using the space for their ongoing training and development and groups supporting those suffering with addictions. There are a few individuals looking to stay for personal retreats too.

Please see our Spring Schedule of events both in-person and online

Greeting to all!

I am conscious as we begun the Advent Season that we have moved into a new year in the life of the Church. Behind us is one of the most unusual experiences for so many of us because we have had to adapt our lives in response to the pandemic that hit us and continues to be a powerful force today.

Anyway, here we are and the life of the Church goes on just as the world continues to turn. Each of us are invited every year to enter into the season of Advent prayerfully, penitential, and with an eye to the return of the Saviour as he promised and his coming at Christmas.

Advent – A time to Listen!

But who is doing the listening and who is the speaker?

We are all, each one of us, to hone our listening, to listen deeper so as to respond better.

Who are we listening to, or what are we listening for?

Reflection Evening with Art: THE COMMON HOME

This week, we are invited to reflect on soul and planet tending. A call for maintaining balance and harmony among all creatures despite the many challenges we face. What do our surroundings mean to us and how do they contribute to our well-being?

Greeting to all!

Advent is coming !

The Synod is underway!

Perhaps you, like me don’t think much about approaching things until there are almost about to happen.

This can be true also for Season of Advent. It arrives and suddenly we’re half way through and haven't really reflected on its meaning or prepared ourselves.

I offer you something that was so successful last year. You can engage with it from the comfort of your own home. Beginning Tuesday 30th November at 7pm and each Tuesday for the four weeks of Advent come and join in a moment of reflection, a little retreat for an hour.

Running alongside this Advent Season, we are already in, or should be in a listen mode as members of the whole Church. The Synod is underway and your contribution to the discussion on communion, participation and mission is needed.

Perhaps this Advent Evening Retreat might provide a space reflect and share about the Synod.

Reflection with Art: A cave by the sea

This week's theme takes us on a mystical journey exploring the physical and inner cave, where wisdom, nurturing and insight for guidance are held.

Director’s Message
Greeting to all!

Awareness of loneliness -

Here in London and around these parts of the city, there are lots of student accommodation and university campuses. I have discovered that there are so many young students, especially those from overseas who are struggling to adjust to life here. Many are homesick and lonely in spite of being surrounded by their peers. This has lead me to try to connect these young people with local folk who can support them, greet them, call them or drop a text. Speak to them in their own language where possible.

Perhaps you have or are experiencing loneliness, perhaps a bereavement or loss. Let us keep one another in prayerful support. Let’s reach out

Blessings!

Director’s Message
Greeting to all!

Welcome to November!

In the Christian tradition we keep the memory of our deceased friends and families as we commemorate the Faithful Departed and lay wreaths at cenotaphs and memorials in all our cities and towns.

At the 10:30am Friday Mass each week here at DMH, I shall be especially holding in prayer all the bereaved of those recently deceased and in particular all who have died from Covid.

Please contact me with the names of your loved ones and I will announce them during the Mass each Friday.

Let me know if you need any information thinking about having a retreats experience or if you are looking for a place to hold a meeting.

Blessings!

Director’s Message
Greeting to all!

This week is school half term break and I want to wish in particular all the teachers and staff a restful and relaxing break. I am aware of the heavy pressure on school staff so let’s support them by our prayers.

The COP26 International Climate Conference is soon to begin and while there seems to be lots of negative comments and disappointing absences from important players, we need to focus on the very important issues facing all our communities. Let’s pray with St Francis of Assisi for a positive outcome.

This week at DMH we are delighted to welcome Gamblers Anonymous (GA) for their first meeting here and later in the week we are hosting a Latino prayer group who will hold a night vigil from Saturday into Sunday.

The final meeting of our Laudato Si’ reflection on the care of our Common Home will take place on Zoom and in person Wednesday 27th October at 7pm

We are currently reviewing the best time to host the Art Expression sessions and when we have received the feedback, we will publish the new day and time for this popular event.

Thanks to everyone who joined in the Tuesday evening Rosary this month and it was good to follow on with Compline (Night Prayer) with the Anglican Community of St George-in-the-East.

Please contact me if you need any information about retreats or a place for meeting.

Blessings!
