🐱 Paws for Prayer! 🙏

Miaow our church cat decided to join us for Evening Prayer yesterday in the sanctuary to supervise proceedings.

All are welcome to come in and pray in our beautiful medieval church in the heart of the City of London at any time of day.

We say Morning and Evening Prayer together at the following times, sometimes in the church and sometimes in the crypt chapel:

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday – 8.30am

🕠 Evening Services
Tuesday – Choral Evensong or Compline, 5.30pm
Wednesday & Thursday – Evening Prayer (BCP), 5.30pm

A warm welcome to a group of Ukrainian visitors!

It was a great pleasure to welcome Joe Hayman and a group of Ukranian visitors from “Learn About Britain” to St Olave Hart Street on Sunday, and to invite them to join us for our Harvest Festival lunch.

Harvest is about sharing what we have and giving thanks together — and it was lovely to make some new friends around the table!
We hope to invite Joe and the group back soon for a longer tour of the church!

We were delighted and very grateful to receive Scientists in Congregations funding from ECLAS – Equipping Christian Leaders in an Age of Science.

It was a particular pleasure to receive the award from renowned astrophysicist and theologian The Revd Dr David Wilkinson at Durham University.

We are working on our video resources following our "Faith and Fire" Discovery Day which will help us improve our offer to school groups visiting the church in future.

A pilgrimage connecting places associated with St Olave, enriched by specially composed poetic responses delivered by the poets themselves.

Compline by Candlelight & St Olave Lecture: For the Love of Tea
After Compline in our atmospheric crypt chapel, Lisa Honan explores St Olave’s connections with the East India Company and the Boston Tea Party.

📖 Sunday 25th October, 11.00am
Bible Sunday – Sung Holy Communion
Beautiful choral music as we explore what the Bible means to us and how we use and understand it. Historic Bibles from our collection will be on display.

Choral Evensong at St Olave Hart Street, City of London

All are welcome to our next service of Choral Evensong, sung by the St Olave Scholars in our beautiful medieval church in the City of London. On Tuesday 13th October we mark Edward the Confessor, King, 1066. Please join us for a glass of something fizzy and a slice of cake afterwards.

Today the Church celebrates St Francis of Assisi, who saw the whole created world as something through which we might praise God.
We are particularly grateful for Miaow, our handsome church cat who joins us in church and keeps a suitably watchful eye on the Rector.

On St Francis’ Day we give thanks for Miaow and for all the animals who share our lives and bring us companionship, affection and joy.

Congratulations to Ashlie, Ian, Jack, James and Joanna on their Confirmation today!

Our thanks to Bishop David for joining us for this very special service, and to everyone who brought donations for our Harvest Festival and helped prepare and serve the food and drinks at our Parish Party afterwards.

The lovely Harvest decorations were sponsored by Brian Grumbridge, with the hops kindly donated by David Hutchings of Shepherd Neame Brewery.

A wonderful day of celebration and thanksgiving.
