NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson began another season by pointing people to what matters far more than football. ✝️🏈

As Hanson prepared to begin another journey of “1,000 touchdowns” with millions of NFL fans, he wrote on X:

“But for me - as always - nothing compares to knowing Christ my Savior.”

Touchdowns, incredible finishes and another NFL season will come and go. But knowing Jesus is worth infinitely more than anything sport can offer.

Football is great.

But nothing compares to knowing Jesus.

Tonight, Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton meet for a place in the US Open final - and both have publicly spoken about the faith that matters more to them than tennis. ✝️

One will win and one will lose. But the Christian hope goes far beyond the result of a tennis match.

Because of Jesus, those who belong to Him have an eternal hope that no victory or defeat can touch.

Before the first snap, Christian McCaffrey bowed his head in prayer.

After the final whistle, Brock Purdy joined Rams players in prayer.

It came after a historic night in Melbourne, where the 49ers beat the Rams 27–7 in the NFL’s first regular-season game in Australia.

Historic moments and God is worthy of all praise. 🙏

Just days after signing a record-breaking deal, Christian Gonzalez took the field wearing a simple reminder on his wrist:

“GOD IS BIG ENOUGH.” 🙌

“God is big enough” doesn’t mean God will always give us the result we want. It means no pressure, success, failure, fear or circumstance is greater than Him - and He is enough to trust through all of it.

That fits with another reminder Gonzalez regularly carries onto the field: Psalm 16:8 on his eye black.

Speaking to Sports Spectrum, he explained:

“I think it’s an amazing verse, just keeping my eyes on the Lord amidst everything… Just keep my eyes on Him and trust in Him.”

“I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” — Psalm 16:8

A $135 million contract is huge.

But God is bigger.

TreVeyon Henderson couldn’t play in the Patriots’ season opener - but he was still leading. 🙏

Ruled out with an ankle injury, Henderson travelled with New England to Seattle and was filmed leading teammates in prayer before kickoff.

Football gave Henderson a platform.

But he’s made clear that Jesus is the point.

Even when he couldn’t take the field, Henderson was still using his influence to point people to Christ.

Before kickoff, Seahawks star Leonard Williams shared this beautiful moment praying with his wife Hailey and their baby son, Zion. 🙏

Speaking to People, Hailey previously said she prays for Leonard before games - and that ultimately she wants to see him use football to “glorify God.”

That means even more when you know Leonard’s story.

He has said he barely grew up around church before former teammate Nate Solder sponsored him to attend a Christian athletes conference - something Leonard later described as a pivotal moment in his life.

Then, speaking on Sports Spectrum, he said:

“It was a blessing for me that I was still able to find Christ through friends.”

Now Leonard says he’s helped around 10–15 people from the Seahawks attend that same conference.

One invitation helped Leonard find Christ. Now he’s using his life to help others find Him too.

After helping Seattle complete a 13–10 comeback win over New England, Jaxon Smith-Njigba made clear where he wanted the glory to go. 🙌

Posting on X after the game, the Seahawks star wrote:

“All glory to God. Thank you Jesus.”

Smith-Njigba caught the decisive fourth-quarter touchdown - but instead of making the moment about himself, he pointed beyond his performance.

May that be true of us too - in victory, defeat, and everything in between. ✝️

After completing an incredible comeback, Frances Tiafoe went straight to Alex Michelsen - who broke down in tears on his shoulder.

What makes it even more striking is that Tiafoe has spent recent months speaking about Romans 8:18 and how Scripture has helped him through painful defeats.

Now he faces Ben Shelton, who has also spoken openly about his faith and said: “I would be nowhere without my faith.”

One of them has to lose.

And that’s the reminder: Christian hope is bigger than the next result. Romans 8:18 points beyond temporary suffering to the eternal glory promised in Christ.

After an extraordinary five-set US Open quarter-final, Frances Tiafoe went straight to his devastated opponent, Alex Michelsen, and hugged him as he cried. ❤️

Two days earlier in his press conference, Tiafoe spoke about one of his favourite Scriptures, Romans 8:18:

“One of my favorite scriptures is Romans 8:18… The pain in what you’re feeling doesn’t compare to the joy that’s coming.”

He has experienced painful defeats himself. And when Michelsen was hurting, Tiafoe showed compassion.

But Romans 8:18 promises something far greater than a comeback on a tennis court. It points to the hope we have in Jesus.

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” — Romans 8:18

The Christian hope is not that every painful moment will turn into an earthly victory. It is that Jesus has overcome sin and death, and those who belong to Him have a future glory that no suffering can take away.

Fresh off his huge US Open win over Carlos Alcaraz, this quote from Ben Shelton feels even more worth revisiting 👇🎾

“I would be nowhere without my faith. That's what's most important to me.”

Shelton said that in his trophy speech after winning the National Bank Open in Montreal in August.

After one of the biggest wins of his career, it’s another reminder that for Ben Shelton, the biggest thing in his life isn’t fame, rankings or trophies.

It’s his faith in Jesus.

Jesus said: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?” — Matthew 16:26 ✝️
