SUPPORT FOLK ECONOMY

I'm excited to let you know that my family is opening an art gallery in central London.

More to the point, I want Pagans on board.

Attending, interacting, exhibiting, and, of course, enjoying our fully-licensed bar.

This coming 20th–25th November, we'll be hosting our inaugural exhibition - 'Sequitur (2nd Interaction)' - curated by a veteran artist. He has decades of experience under his belt, being involved in multiple shows, curatorial opportunities, educating, and having run a gallery in the mid-2000s.

He's also my dad. Based.

If you back Pagan businesses - as the OSM always has - this is your chance to support (possibly) the first folkish art gallery in England. We're accepting submissions for exhibitions, assisting in art sales, and answering questions.

This essay will explore the connection between the Germanic wolf-cults and their namesake animal, drawing parallels with Wо̄den and his two wolves - Geri and Freki. A case will be put forward in regard of them being fylgjur (spirit-animals) of the God, by way of the topics of animal companionship, cult qualities and the Old Norse language as found in the Poetic Edda, and other skaldic poems.

Nerthusblōt Observed

By the light of summer's end, our Order this month observed the Nerthusblōt - a sacrifice to our Earth Mother.

Offerings of homegrown produce and wine were given freely to the Goddess, with song sung in Her name. Her placement in the covered vessel - so known to our fathers of Germania old, marked the coming of frith within the sacred space. All present maintained this frith-peace, vowing it upheld and sincere.

Joyous are we in you. O Lady!
Erce, Erce, Erce!
Earth Mother give!

If slumbers all-knowing.
Which guide must I seek?

3. Hwæt! Born of chieftains,
Bright horns that cleave clean.
Great blood your house keepeth,
With Auroch in dream.

4. But rest not on honour,
To keep your throne safe.
A blood-soaked bull running,
May yet seal your fate.

5. Speak not of mighty-
Bound clans; great or rare.
Sights sacral for war-kings,
The wyrd summons Bear.

6. None may e’er know them.
Old cult lost to myth.
The nameless; keep temperate!
Lest your hand kills kith.

7. In force or by ambush,
In chains that fly free.
What news befalls, Wōden?
When Wolf comes to me?

Hlafblōt Observed

Under the blessed light of the Harvest Moon, our Order observed this month the Hlafblōt - a harvest ritual.

Worshipped for their Divine mandates, our northern hearth observed Sceafa and Beowa in this rite. Offerings were given freely of beer, bread and barley cakes in exchange for their blessings.

The harvest was an especially vital time of celebration for our forefathers old, marking the time that crops were brought in and stored for the winter months. The inseparability of the ancient Folk and the Land is something we, as Heathens of our age, need to drive our efforts to return to.

It matters not whether our Wyrd lies in the comforts of home or a distant shore; the Land is an absolute to which all Folk must adhere. It is the ultimate Right, superseding all man-made law.

Revere the Land!
Honour the Harvest!

Æftera Liþablōt Observed

This past weekend our Order, under the full moon, observed an Æftera Liþablōt; a sacrifice marking the end of the MIdsummer period (Liþa).

Both Sunna and Máni - our Lady of the Sun and Moon-Lord respectively, were honoured through the telling of story and gift-giving. Their Divine mandates, so beloved for the balance it brings to the Nine Worlds, is vital in our own understanding of cosmic order and - with it, the balance we all seek in our life's pursuits of prosperity.

As the embers of the Sunstead's passing rests, enjoy the last of these warm days. Heed my counsel if you so please:

Be happy! Be fertile!

Speak good words of those deserving of praise, and bring ridicule to the foolish.

Above all else: act with a balanced worldview. Act the middle-wise, so sayeth HIgh One.
