It’s been over a month since our last post — thank you for sticking with us! Life doesn’t always go to plan, and that includes hiccups behind the scenes with our Instagram setup. We appreciate your patience during the gap. Fittingly, this morning’s Family Focus was all about waiting — a good reminder that “those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31). Have a watch below, and we hope you enjoy it and are blessed by the entire service.

Lee Strobel set out to disprove Christianity, but the evidence he uncovered led him to faith in Jesus Christ. As an investigative journalist and former atheist, he examined the historical claims of the Gospel expecting to find flaws—yet instead became convinced that Jesus is who He claimed to be and ended up writing the best-selling book ‘The Case for Christ’.
The Bible tells a similar story about Saul. He persecuted the early church and tried to destroy it, but after encountering the risen Christ, he became the Apostle Paul—one of Christianity’s greatest advocates and missionaries.
God can change even the hardest heart, turning resistance into faith and enemies into ambassadors for Christ.

Everyone is a disciple of something. Whether you’re a Swiftie (Taylor Swift fan), a Whovian (Doctor Who enthusiast), or a Gooner (Arsenal supporter), most people have something they’re deeply passionate about.
There’s nothing wrong with enjoying music, sport, entertainment, or hobbies. But when our passions become obsessions, when they begin to take God’s place in our hearts, they can become idols. The question isn’t whether you’re a disciple—everyone follows something or someone. The real question is:
Who, or what, are you a disciple of?

How should Christians respond to opposition when sharing their faith?
Acts 8 reminds us that opposition shouldn’t silence the gospel. Persecution scattered the believers from Jerusalem, but instead of stopping, they kept preaching wherever they went. Philip took the message to Samaria, where many believed and great joy followed.
The same pattern is seen today: opposition cannot stop God’s work. So when sharing your faith is difficult, don’t be discouraged—keep speaking the truth in love and trust God with the results.
Opposition may scatter believers, but it can also spread the gospel.

Learning the Summerstown Mission 2026 memory verse continues with another Family Focus based on learning John 13:35, and here are some photos from that part of today’s service. We even had a 2 year-old recite the Bible verse!

Continuing our series in Acts, we’ve come to chapter 6, where a dispute breaks out between the Hellenistic Jews and the Hebraic Jews. The Hellenistic Jews — Greek-speaking Jews from outside Jerusalem — felt their widows were being overlooked in the daily support and food distribution.
The apostles dealt with it quickly by appointing seven godly men to oversee the need. But far from stopping the church, this moment actually helped it grow even more. The gospel kept spreading and the number of disciples multiplied. Nothing can stop the Word of God!

In Acts 5, we read that the apostles were teaching and healing many people in Solomon’s Colonnade—much to the irritation of the high priest and the Sadducees. In response, the high priest had them arrested and thrown into prison (imagine being imprisoned simply for doing good!)
Yet during the night, an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, brought them out, and instructed them to continue preaching. And that is exactly what they did. Their work was barely interrupted; the advance of God’s word was not hindered at all.
When we look at the world around us today—the increasing opposition to Christianity, the rise of atheism, and the presence of other belief systems—it can sometimes seem as though God’s plan is faltering. But we need not be afraid. God’s gospel purposes cannot be stopped or defeated.

In this morning’s Family Focus, Chris asked: “Can God do anything?” Almost every child said yes.
We often think about what God can do—but have you ever thought about what God can’t do? We’ll be exploring that question in Family Focus over the next few weeks (inspired by 12 Things God Can’t Do by Nick Tucker), so I won’t give too much away. But one idea really stood out: God cannot learn.
Strange at first—but it makes sense. If God knows everything, there’s nothing left for Him to learn.
What an amazing God we serve!

Who remembers the time Prince Harry raced Usain Bolt? If not, Google it! Spoiler: Prince Harry crossed the finish line first—but only because Usain Bolt graciously let him win. In doing so, Bolt didn’t really lose; he won the admiration of the crowd and helped turn a simple charity race into a joyful, memorable moment.

The idea of “losing to win” runs deep. The Bible is full of stories where apparent defeat leads to a greater victory. Take Joseph, who was sold into slavery by his own brothers, only to rise to prominence in Pharaoh’s court and ultimately save countless lives.

Yet no story captures this truth more powerfully than Jesus—who, by willingly “losing” His life, brought salvation to all who believe in Him.

So the question remains: are you ready to lose in order to truly win?

Is Jesus still involved today?
It might not always feel like it, but He is.
In Acts 3, a man who’d never walked is healed instantly. Not by the apostles’ power, but by Jesus working through them. And when people come to know Jesus, when the message of salvation is preached today, it’s as if Jesus Himself is doing it.
Jesus is still involved in His salvation plan today and is fully responsible for the success of His plan. So don’t give up hope, keep speaking to Gospel, because Jesus is in control.
