On Sunday 17/05/2026, we were honoured to have Rev Dr Dorcas Gachagua wife to the Hon. Rigathi Gachagua who are currently on a visit to the UK fellowshipping with us. Rev Dr Dorcas Gachagua was the guest preacher and delivered a very powerful message. The title of her message was; In the King’s Service. Texts: Daniel 1:8–20; Romans 12:9–21
Success or failure is often shaped by the people around you. Wise company brings wisdom; corrupt company leads to compromise. The people you surround yourself with can make or break you.
In Daniel 1:3–4, King Nebuchadnezzar ordered the best young men from Israel to serve in his palace healthy, intelligent, educated, and fit for royal service. Though gifted, they were now surrounded by a foreign culture that opposed their faith.
Babylon offered them comfort, power, and the king’s food symbols of compromise. Today, “royal food” may look like shortcuts, corruption, immorality, or small compromises that slowly defile the soul.
But Daniel made a decision:
“Daniel resolved not to defile himself.” Daniel 1:8
He chose conviction over compromise and faithfulness over convenience.
1. Conviction Keeps You Clean
Daniel did not rebel loudly; he stood firmly and faithfully. God honored him with wisdom, favor, and excellence above others.
When culture pressures you to conform, stand firm. God honors those who choose purity and obedience even in secret.
1. Love Sets the Tone
Romans 12:9–21 teaches sincere Christian living:
* Hate evil and cling to good
* Honor and love one another
* Bless those who persecute you
* Do not repay evil for evil
* Overcome evil with good
God’s people stand out not only by what they refuse, but by how they love.
1. God Gives the Outcome
Daniel and his friends focused on obedience; God gave the results, wisdom, favor, and influence.
You may not control Babylon, but you can control your response. Stay faithful, avoid compromise, and trust God with the outcome.
Conclusion
You may feel outnumbered or pressured by the world around you, but hold the line. Be faithful for God is forever faithful and never abandons us.
The congregation later prayed for the country of Kenya and its people that peace May preavail.
