⭐️ ALLSTARS IS BACK… WITH A LITTLE EXTRA ZAZAZOOM! ⭐️

This Sunday 13th September, AllStars Sunday School is back — and we’ve given things a little shush, shuffle and spruce-up over the summer. ✨

We’re going back to basics in the best possible way: opening our Bibles, asking big questions, discovering what the stories actually mean and finding out what all of this has to do with us.

There are a few new things waiting to be discovered too… 👀

Same AllStars. Same warm welcome. Just a little more to explore. 💛

Come and see what we’ve been up to! ⭐️📖

☀️🍔 WHOEVER WAS ON WEATHER PRAYERS FOR SUNDAY — EXCELLENT WORK. 🙏🌭

Perfect sunshine. Fabulous company. A BBQ that just kept on giving. And dessert tables. Plural. We don’t mess about. 😁

There were TWO bouncy castles, bowling alley, a ball pit, garden games and some frankly magnificent neon ducks waiting to be hooked. The children barely stopped… and neither, judging by the repeat visits to the BBQ, did the grown-ups. 👀😋

We’re also delighted to confirm that despite second helpings, third helpings and some ambitious dessert decisions, the inflatables remained entirely incident-free. A September miracle! 🙌

It was especially lovely to see so many friends and extended family joining us too — a church family afternoon in the very best sense: good food, good company and plenty of time simply to be together. 💛

Finally, a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make the whole thing possible — setting up, cooking, serving, organising, clearing away and all the countless jobs in between. It takes a brilliant team to pull off an afternoon like that, and we’re incredibly grateful. 💛

What a way to kick off September.

And looking out of the window today… apparently September peaked early. 🌧️😂

🧸 TEDDY BEARS CERTAINLY KNOW HOW TO PICNIC! 🧸

Teddies in every corner, an assortment of crafts on tables and grown-ups who appeared to be enjoying themselves every bit as much as the bears! 😂

There was plenty of making and playing, some brilliant role-play and a story with actions that were tackled with varying levels of accuracy but absolutely no shortage of commitment. 👏😂

We finished with a fabulous picnic spread — and there wasn’t an awful lot left to trouble the washing-up team. 😋

A HUGE thank you to our wonderful volunteers who helped make the whole afternoon happen. 💛

Rumour has it the teddies have already pencilled next year’s picnic into their diaries. Apparently they’re very organised bears! 🧸📅😂

🏗️🚨 STORY BUILDERS IS BACK… AND WE’RE GOING UP! 🚨🏗️

New Story Teller. New story. New building challenge. And what we can only describe as a deeply unreasonable quantity of Sellotape and masking tape. 😄

We’re not giving the story away just yet, but there will be long art straws. There will be ambitious construction. There will be engineering decisions of questionable structural integrity.

What are we building? How high will it go? And at what point will gravity decide it would like a word? 🤔🏗️

Come and hear the story, then get building, creating and imagining together!

🌟 Got a Story Builders passport? Bring it along for your next stamp and sticker.
🌟 Never been before? Brilliant — a shiny new passport will be waiting for you!

🥨 Drinks and snacks for everyone, because serious construction work requires refreshments.

Listen. Imagine. Build.

📆 Saturday 5th September
⏰ 10.30am - 12pm

Hard hats optional. Sellotape enthusiasm strongly encouraged. 🏗️😄💛

Congratulations to our former church organist Alfie Beston, who has been awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists, one of the highest and most prestigious qualifications available to organists and church musicians.

Alfie was assessed through a demanding combination of practical and written examinations covering performance, keyboard skills, musical analysis, harmony, history and interpretation.

Not only did he pass the exam but he won EVERY SINGLE PRIZE which could be awarded - the Limpus, Shinn and Durrant prizes for the highest overall marks in the practical examinations, the Harding and Durrant prizes for the highest overall marks in the written examinations, and the Samuel Baker Prize for the highest mark overall.

Alfie - we're very blessed to have had you leading our music at St John's and we wish you all God's blessings as you head to Oxford next month to start your university studies.
