The Haunted House, 1921
Buster Keaton plays a teller 👨‍💼 at a successful bank 🏦 in this 1921 comedy-short film. Unbeknownst to him, the manager of the bank and his gang are planning on pulling off a robbery and are hiding in an old house 🏚️ that they have rigged up with b***y traps and effects to make it appear to be haunted 👻 Keaton takes refuge in the house and the fun begins! Is the house really haunted or not?!

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, 1920
At a carnival in Germany 🎡 , Francis and his friend Alan encounter the crazed Dr. Caligari 🧙‍♂️ . The men see Caligari showing off his somnambulist, Cesare, a hypnotized man who the doctor claims can see into the future 🔮. Shockingly, Cesare then predicts Alan's death, and by morning his chilling prophecy has come true - making Cesare the prime suspect. 😱However, is Cesare guilty, or is the doctor controlling him? 🕵️‍♂️ Considered by many to be the epitome of German Expressionism on Film, it was made in 1920 and is classed as the first ‘horror picture’.

This Sunday at 12 noon we have another of our popular Music After Mass recitals, and organ scholar Jake will give a short concert of music by Mendelssohn on our recently restored 3-manual organ. Funds raised support our music and scholarship programme. Hope to see you there!
